Giannelli: “Football is important. If it is possible, we want to restart too"

Early this afternoon, Trentino Volley captain Simone Giannelli spoke at "Sabato Sport", the weekly sports programme of Radio RAI 1. “I agree with what Federica Pellegrini declared in the last few days – he answered to the question of the host Manuela Colazzo – . Football in Italy is important but it is not the only important discipline. From an Olympic point of view too, it is fair to take account of others and, if and when possible, to restart sports such as swimming or volleyball that have given and will give so much to our country. The priority is everyone’s health, obviously, but volleyball is my life and it’s normal that I hope in a restart of the activity as soon as the government allows it”.
“At the moment there are many concerns, which go well beyond the economic aspects - continued Giannelli - . There are many topics on the table between players and clubs. I hope the SuperLega will remain the most beautiful championship in the world next season too even if it was to deal with some athletes who decide to go elsewhere. Tokyo 2021? It's hard to think about it now because the Olympic Games are still a long way off. The only thing that makes us feel comfortable is that we already have the qualification in our hands. The role of the setter is particular and difficult at the same time; you have to measure technique but also psychology because you always have to try to understand your attacker's state of mind. If it's true that sport is a school of life, then being a setter makes you mature faster".
