Candellaro: "I only discovered volleyball when I was 17, but I soon realized that ..."

Davide Candellaro, the Trentino Volley’s middle-blocker, was the protagonist of a long video interview with the Volley NEWS website on Tuesday. Two fans asked him questions instead of a journalist.
"I discovered volleyball at the age of seventeen, so not so soon, encouraged by a friend who was already passionate - revealed the Venetian athlete - ; in 2010, when I went to Taranto to play my first season in Serie A1 I realized that this sport could become a real job. Two other seasons lived in Puglia, in Molfetta a few years later between 2014 and 2016, were important to reach high levels. The national team is certainly the most important goal for every player and therefore I feel proud and lucky to have worn the blue jersey".
“Concluding the championship without having assigned the title was a great sadness
- continued Candellaro - , also because before the stop we were growing a lot. While fully understanding and sharing the reasons for the stop, we hoped that the tournament could be resumed eventually. Also, this motivation pushed us to continue training individually at home. I am convinced that when we can go back to work, it may take four or five weeks of training to be ready to play an official game again. Surely you could not immediately see the best volley possible, but it would still be a starting point".
"Playing the closed-doors game against Lube on March 8th was a particular and difficult experience at the same time: playing without any sound support from the audience was almost surreal - continued Davide -. There are many things that we had to deal with. A name for the future of Italian volleyball? In Trento there is Alessandro Michieletto, a really promising young man. He obviously has yet to complete his physical growth but has potential to make it big. During this last season, he often has been the protagonist of important moments".
