Barbieri, the new trainer: "In Trento with determination and ambition".

Here is Lorenzo Barbieri’s first interview as trainer of Trentino Volley.

How do you feel about coming to Trento and starting this new experience?
"I feel very determined because Trento has always been sought after by those who work in the world of volleyball, not only for how much it has been able to win but for the seriousness with which it has always carried out its activity. I am therefore very happy, for me it represents a starting point and not an arrival one, I want to develop further passion for this sport and for my profession. My hope is that we can quickly put this difficult period without training in the gym behind us, and that we can concentrate on the new season soon. It's the thing that interests me the most".
Will your recent high-level experience in Perugia help you from this point of view?
"What awaits us will be a very special year, because, for once, it will start without having a summer of international matches behind us. The preparation will be studied in a different way than usual. The players available from the first training session will be many and this will be a fortune and a potential to be exploited immediately, but it will require a very focused work as soon as possible. If you want to get to the finals you will inevitably have to play a lot of matches and hope that the season will continue as long as possible. We'll prepare ourselves with great care to make sure that's the case".
In Trento you'll find the physiotherapist Russo, with whom you've already worked in Piacenza and whom you know particularly well: will it be an advantage?
"With Alessandro we played on the same football team, he was my captain. So we know each other very well and I'm happy to find him again because creating a good understanding between the medical staff and my figure is very important to make sure the work is developed in the best possible way. Russo is a good person and above all he is very well prepared; it's lucky to have him at my side in this new adventure".
What is your personal goal?
"To work so that the players feel good and are able to jump and throw each ball full throttle. I wouldn't complain if they manage also win something..."
