Podrascanin: ''With Trento to continue to fight for highest goals''

The first interview as a Trentino Volley's player to Marko Podrascanin, 32 years old, Serbian middle hitter, made official today.

Welcome to Trentino Volley, Marko! What made you decide to make this choice?
''First of all the competitiveness of the team. I saw, as the weeks went by, that was becoming more and more structured and strong and I was pleased to note that was missing a middle hitter to close the circle. That's why, when the President Mosna and the General Manager Bruno Da Re have contaced me, I had no hesitation in accepting their proposal. Trentino Volley wants to return to the highest levels and I'm pleased that they thought of me to realize this project. My first goal will be winning and continue to have great incentives to try to do so. Here in Trento I'm sure that there will be this opportunity.''
You are just the leatest in a long tradition of Serbian that passed through Trento in these twenty years..
''It's true, here have played a lot of impotant compatriots: Mester, Vujevic, Grbic, Kovacevic, Lisinac but also Boskan, with whom I have often spoken about Trentino Volley. Perhaps not everyone knows that me and Bole are distant cousins.''
How will it feel to play with this t-shirt after having seen it often on the other side of the net during the previous thirteen seasons, often made of decisive direct matches?
''It will certainly be very special but also very challenging, because Trentino Volley is one of those teams that has often made me suffer and against which I have lost many times. For example during my first years in the Italian Championship in what was called, at the time, PalaTrento I wasn't never able to win. I remeber that every time that I went here I came back home always defeated, then in October 2011 with Macerata we managed to achieve a significant victory, that also saw me get the title mvp: unforgettable. However, the first absolute memory is relative to 2007, when I was still wearing Corigliano's t-shirt - my first Italian team. We lost 3-1 but in my team there were talented players: Colaci, Raymaekers, Maric, Tony Kovacevic...''
What can the new Itas Trentino reach?
''Seeing the names that already compose the roster, we can get to the bottom of all the events because we have very important players. I chose Trentino Volley before its admission in the CEV Champions League and even more so I'm plased to be here now that this opportunity has opened up: is the only tournament I've never won with a Club's t-shirt. I'll give it all to succeed, I can't wait to play the first match.''
Together with Lisinac, do you compose the strongest duo in the championship?
''It's not up to me to say it but surely together we form a nice couple, also because we know each other well and I'm sure that our feeling will help us much as it already happens in the National team. We are two warriors, we have a lot of experience and we are full of incentives. Lisinac, then, in the first two seasons of SuperLeague proved to be very strong, probably the best in his role.''
For the first time in you career you will be trained by Angelo Lorenzetti, are you curious to live this experience?
''A lot because I think that he is one of the best coach, not only in Italy, and because all the previous teammates that were trained by him told me always good things about him. He's a coach who gives you so much also outside of the gym and always looks for dialogue. I will definitely be fine; I have already spoken with Angelo but not so much about volleyball. There will be time to deepen.''
Are you still playing in the national team?
''I'm at 294 attendances and exceed the 300 stimulate me a lot; if there will be an opportunity I will always ready to do it also because my family never asked me to stop.''
A message for the Trentino Volley's fans?
''As an opponent I have always appreciated their honesty; they are warm but polite and I am convinced that we will get along very well''
