SuperLega, big match on Monday at 3 pm, live on RAI Sport +

The televised postponement of the fourteenth round (the third of the second round) of SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21 will be played on the afternoon of Monday 14 December. Also on this occasion, Itas Trentino will be on the field at the BLM Group Arena to face the Cucine Lube Civitanova. Kick-off set for 3 pm: live on RAI Sport + and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO With five consecutive victories in as many matches played in December, the giallo-blù team faces the most severe test of the last two weeks, challenging the second in the class (a team able to beat it twice already in this start of season).
The gradual recovery of Giannelli in the control room and the comforting signals displayed on Wednesday evening in the A22 derby allow Angelo Lorenzetti to look forward to this match. "We had started our season in mid-September with a double match with Civitanova and finding ourselves again in front of this team will make us understand where we are on the path, taking into account that we are talking about a team that occupies the very top of the standings and that also during this week has proved its worth, winning against Perugia in the Champions League - commented the Trentino Volley coach presenting the match - . A very difficult match awaits us in which we will have to take advantage of the indications that emerged from the last matches if we want to hold the comparison. To beat Lube we need to be determined but also cynical in taking advantage of the opportunities we will have in the break point phase, the sector of our game where we can grow more ".
Also in this case, Itas Trentino will have to do without the spiker Kooy (who is carrying out a differentiated work program to recover from the physical problem accused last week in the abdominal muscles) and will therefore confirm the young Alessandro Michieletto in the starting line-up.
Monday will be the twentieth official match of the Trentino Volley season (with thirteen victories and six defeats), the 865th ever and will see the Gialloblù chasing the 315th home win, the absolute 360th in the regular season.
THE OPPONENTS Strengthened by a recent tradition that is decidedly favorable in direct confrontation, Cucine Lube Civitanova appears in Trento for the second time this season with the aim of prolonging its good time and continuing to pursue Perugia in the fight for the first place in the SuperLega rankings. The Umbrians are two points ahead of Lube, but in Tours, during the first bubble of the Champions League Main Phase, they proved to be ahead of their opponents by winning the match 3-1 on Tuesday evening. The first twelve games played in the regular season have shown how much the team coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi can count on an exceptional service (which scores an average of 2.19 aces per set), thanks to players of absolute value in this fundamental as Simon (third in the special ranking), Juantorena and Leal. These players are able to make a difference in other areas of the game, such as attacking and blocking, in which the most brilliant is Anzani (best blocker of the tournament). On the road De Cecco and his teammates left their opponents only one point (the one granted eight days ago in Ravenna), winning all the other four games at most in four sets, as happened in Modena, Monza, Piacenza and Verona.
BACKGROUND Cucine Lube Civitanova is the opponent faced the most times during the 2020 calendar year by Trentino Volley; on Monday the confrontation will take place for the eighth time in the last twelve months, a period of time that has seen the two clubs face off in any type of event: championship, Champions League, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa. Lube is also the team that Trentino Volley has challenged the most number of times in official matches: 76 in twenty years of activity (Modena is the second with 75), with 33 giallo-blù victories and 43 defeats. The most frequent result was tie break: 30 times (with 14 Trentino victories), 39% of the total. In a regular season match, like the one on Monday afternoon, Trentino Volley hasn't beaten Civitanova Marche since 13 November 2016 (3-1 in Trento with Giannelli MVP). After that success, only three more affirmations came in the following twenty-five games: in the current season a victory for Trento (13 September, in Trento for 3-2) and two for Civitanova (both in the Marche; 3-2 on 20 September and 3-0 on 7 October).
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Stefano Cesare (from Rome - in Serie A since 1999 and international since 2010) and Massimiliano Giardini (from Verona, in the top category since 2014), both in their fifth game of the season in SuperLega. The last match with Trentino Volley for Cesare dates back to one against Civitanova (20 September, defeat in the Marche at ì tie break in the second leg of the Supercoppa), while for Giardini it was more than a year ago: 27 November 2019, Cisterna-Trento 1-3.
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The challenge will be a global media event, with the simultaneous live broadcast on TV, radio and internet. It will in fact be broadcast by RAI Sport +, a channel present both on the digital terrestrial platform (number 57 in HD, 58 in sd) and on the satellite platform of Sky at channel 227, with commentary entrusted to Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta; the images will also be broadcast on the internet in video-audio streaming through the RaiPlay app.
