After A22 derby: statistics and curiosities Back at work on Zoom, due to the snow

Some statistics, notes and curiosities after match number 76 of A22 derby, won 3-1 by Itas Trentino in Modena and valid as match of round number 16 of SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21.

BLOCK AND SERVE, GOOD JOB! The victory achieved at PalaPanini is just another example of the great moment Itas Trentino is living, and above all the capacity at block (11 points in Emilia) and at serve (12). In the past, Itas had’t ever achieved such an high total number of points scored only thanks to the fundamentals (23 in total). The best matches, until Sunday night were the one registered on 27th September in Padova (21 points: 13 ace and 8 blocks) and on 25th November against Vibo Valentia on home field (21: 16 blocks and 5 ace). Regarding Champions League, the best seasonal matches for gialloblù team have been on 1st December, against Novosibirsk  and on 2nd December against Karlovarsko, both at BLM Group Arena, first round of Pool E of Champions League: in both matches the team scored 24 points (14 blocks and 10 blocks of points).

AMAZING NIMIR Such an high rendition by Nimir is not a news anymore, but the statistics clearly say that he’s the best one on any field. Last Sunday night in Modena, the Dutch opposite scored 30 points and achieved a total of 397 points in the season; no gialloblù player had ever scored such an high number of points during the first 22 official matches played. At the moment, on average, he scores about 18 points per match, he is on place 39 of the opposites’ ranking “all time” of the story of Trentino Volley. But that’s not enough: indeed Abdel-Aziz was labelled as MVP in 5 of the last 8 matches played by Trentino Volley, another record for the player!

IN SECOND ROUND GIALLOBLU’ IS UNBEATABLE  Since the beginning of December, Itas Trentino’s results have turned upside down. Indeed, the victory achieved in Modena is the 8th consecutive of December; in the second round of regular season Trentino Volley is, together with Monza (which only played 2 matches), the only team that hasn’t ever been defeated yet, the team counts 3 victories out of 3 matches played. 3-0 against Civitanova and Piacenza, 3-1 in Modena, 3-2 in Verona.

NEXT MATCHES ON AWAY FIELD The match in Emilia was just the first one of the 3 matches on away field for Itas Trentino. Gialloblù team will play on away field two more times; Wednesday 30th December Giannelli and his fellow players will play the match for 11th round of regular season at Pala De André in Ravenna (Consar’s home field). Starting whistle scheduled for 6 pm, live on Radio Dolomiti and Lega Volley Channel. While on 3rd January the team will play the big match at PalaBarton in Perugia, on Sir Safety Conad’s home field (at 6pm, live on RAI Sport + and Radio Dolomiti). Next match on home field will be on 6th January: match valid for round number 10 against Allianz Milano.

TRAINING ON ZOOM, DUE TO THE SNOW Due to the amount of snow fallen on the whole region of Trentino Alto Adige on Monday, the staff had to re-organize the trainings programme for this week. In order to avoid any inconvenience and transfer, the players and the staff did not meet at BLM Group Arena, but virtually. They trained at home, on Zoom, guided by the Athletic Coach Barbieri. Training on Zoom is not something new given that this was the mean used by the players also during the lockdown in March and April.
