SuperLega, notes and statistical curiosities after the away game in Perugia

Some statistical curiosities emerged after the fifth match of SuperLega Credem Banca 2021/22, lost on Sunday evening by Itas Trentino against Sir Safety Conad Perugia (0-3).

FIRST DEFEAT OF THE SEASON DURING AN AWAY GAME. The setback at PalaBarton cost Itas Trentino its invincibility of the season in an away game. Until Sunday, the team had always won its away matches: three, with the success in Vibo Valentia on October 17th and the two victories at the Eurosuole Forum on October 23rd and 24th during the Final Four of the Del Monte® Supercoppa 2021. Sunday night's match is the first of the season in which the team has not won a single set.

THE PALABARTON IS ONCE AGAIN ASTONISHED. The only two previous matches in the 2021 calendar year in the Umbrian stadium before Sunday night's match were memorable for Itas Trentino: on January 3rd, the team violated the Perugia court in four sets (in the match valid for the sixth day of the second half of the 2020/21 regular season) and on March 24th, despite losing in the tie break, obtained the sets needed to qualify for the Champions League Final. The PalaBarton is therefore back to being astonished, as had already happened on ten other occasions, in which Trentino Volley did not collect points.

BLOCK STILL AT THE TOP. The worst performance of the season in a single match in the fundamental of the block (just four winning matches, in the previous games the team had always scored in double-digit), has not however stolen the first place from Itas Trentino in the SuperLega ranking of blocks. No other team has scored as many blocks in the regular season as the yellow-blue: 54 in total, an average of 2.84 blocks per set. Piacenza is second at 53 but with two more sets played.

PERFORMANCE RANKINGS. The wall is not the only area in which Itas Trentino stands out as far as the individual performance rankings are concerned. A quick look at them shows that Srecko Lisinac is the best attacker of the championship in terms of weighted average, Matey Kaziyski excels on serve (third aceman with 9 points), Michieletto is third on serve in terms of weighted average, Podrascanin and Lisinac are second in terms of blocks (15), just one length behind leader Simon.

NON STOP CALENDAR. Itas Trentino will return to training this afternoon to prepare for the next championship match, scheduled for Wednesday, November 10th in Ravenna for the eleventh round, which the team was supposed to play on Immacolata Day (December 8th). At that time, however, the team will be in Brazil for the 2021 edition of the World Club Championship, which is why it was necessary to play both the match in Romagna and the one against Piacenza (on November 18 th at the BLM Group Arena) earlier. The match at Pala De André will be the 899th official match in the history of Trentino Volley.
