Trentino Itas-Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia 0-3, the match report

Match report. Trentino Itas must play without Kaziyski, not in good physical condition after keeping up with the tour the force of the last few weeks, Lisinac (problem at the back, that must be examined more precisely in the next days) and Podrascanin (minimal muscular injury at the abs, which will keep him on a break for a couple of weeks). Lorenzetti decides to go back to the old module of the game: he lines up Pinali as opposite hitter and Cavuto at the centre of the net diagonally to D’Heer, with Michieletto and Lavia in place 4, Sbertoli as setter and Zenger as libero. Perugia in turn must give up Colaci, Ricci and Russo and comes to BLM Group Arena with Rychlicki as opposite hitter, Piccinelli as libero, Leon and Anderson as wing spikers, Solé and Mengozzi at the centre and the most applauded player Simone Gianelli (in his first match as ex regular in Trento, awarded by the yellow-blue Society before the kick-of) as setter. The guest team put their signature on the kick-off, with Leon that does not wait to score quickly a pair of beak-points that throw the Umbrian team to 0-4, forcing the host team to call a time out. After the break, it is always Sir Sicoma Monini the one to have a strong block and counterattack (3-7 and 4-10), also because the team of Trento struggles in the phase of side out. In the central phase, the gap increases once more (7-14 and 8-16) and the only sprint of the yellow-blue team is a great one-on-one block of Lavia against Rychlicki (10-16), then Perugia does not allow anything else (11-19) until Pinali serves, who gives to the public at BLM Group Arena two consecutive aces (16-21). The finale is Leon’s (16-23) and then some mistakes at service (18-25).
After changing the side of the court, Trentino Itas starts again with a new sprint. Pinali plays well in attack and Michieletto keeps up in reception and at net. The host team plays blow for blow against the opponents (3-2, 6-6 and 8-7), underlining Lavia’s quality while blocking (12-11). The match is fun and continues to be on a balance with the two formations that keep being ahead one after the other. Perugia leads with 15-16 with a counterattack of Rychlicki, Trento replies with a block by Cavuto against Mengozzi (16-15), then the Umbriam team speeds up with Leon (16-18 and 19-21). Lorenzetti’s team fights till 20-22, then the Cuban players naturalized Polish is the one to end the match (ace for 20-23) and to seal the first mathematical place in the round (21-25).
The point-to-point match starts again in the third set, with Trentino Itas that with Michieletto generously reduces the gap against Perugia (4-6), transforming it in 11-9 in short time, the best advantage of the night. Leon put the situation back in place by serving (11-12) and then makes the team speed up (13-15). The yellow-blue team tries to reply with Michieletto (16-17), the Sir Sicoma Monini definitively escapes away with Travica’s ace (16-19) and the side outs made by Leon and Anderson (20-22 and 23-25).
