Sir Safety Conad Perugia-Itas Trentino 3-1, the match report

Match report. Itas Trentino hits the court with Sbertoli as setter, Lavia, Kaziyski and Michieletto as hitter-spikers, Lisinac and Podrascanin as middle-blockers, Zenger libero. Sir Safety Conad Perugia responds with Giannelli as setter, Leon and Anderson as hitter-spikers, Solé and Mengozzi as middle-blockers, Colaci libero. The beginning is favourable for the Umbrian, that can run away immediately 2-6 thanks to the wild Leon; Lavia doesn’t stand it and takes back on track the yellow-blue team (6-9), helped by Michieletto (8-10). Perugia speeds up again with the block (9-14, 14-20) and settles quickly the score with Mengozzi, who stands out, and Leon as always (17-25).
The balance in second set lasts only until 5-6, then Sir Safety Conad speeds up with the aces of the Caribbean in position 4 (7-11). With Michieletto’s sprint the team is one point behind (10-11), but it is only an illusion because the Umbrians starts again with Anderson (10-13) and strikes the blow with Rychlicki (13-18). Kaziyski tries to reclaim points (15-18), but then Trento struggles during the ball-change phase and give Perugia a series of consecutive points (16-23 and then 17-25).
During the third set Itas Trentino tries to give its best again to reopen the match; Kaziyski with an ace gets the first advantage (3-1), then Lavia gets the team back in advantage (7-6) after that Rychlicki reaches the tie 4-4. In the mid-time, the yellow-blue team speeds up (11-8), inspired by Podrascanin and Lavia’s points; Perugia reaches them thanks to Rychlicki (15-15) and fights point to point from that moment on (19-18), until Michieletto and Podrascanin block Rychlicki (22-20). After Grbic’s time-out, Sir settles the score at 23 with an error in attack of Kaziyski; Podrascanin (first time) and Sbertoli (block on Anderson) help to reach the break needed to move on to the fourth set with 25-23 and 1-2.
Perugia performs a come-back in the first part of the fourth set (3-5) thanks to Rychlicki’s block and Leon’s attack. The error at middle-net of Podrascanin delivers +3 to the opponents (6-9). Lorenzetti’s time-out is providential, because Trento reaches the tie (10-10) with Lisinac’s block and Kaziyski’s counterattack at the restart. Grbic imitates his counterpart, stopping the game and, once the match restarts, Sir Safety Conad creates the break that is worth the final 3-1: Leon hits from the nine-metre line (12-17), Anderson and Mengozzi imitate him at net (15-19). It seems to be the determining sprint, especially after that Kaziyski attacks at net for 19-23. But it’s not that, incredibly Trento gets back up to 23-24 with Michieletto wild at serve but it’s not able to set the return that could have allowed the advantage and loses 23-25 at the hands of Giannelli.
