Top Volley Cisterna-Itas Trentino 3-0, the match report

Match report. For the last match of regular season, Angelo Lorenzetti suggests a very young sextet in the court (average age of 22.4 years) with only a foreigner in it and the most expert player is Oreste Cavuto (graduating class 1996), who is also the team leader and plays in diagonal to Michieletto in position 4. The other five players of starting six are Sbertoli as setter, Pinali as opposite-spiker, D’Heer and the baby Dell’Osso (graduating class 2003) as middle-blockers, De Angelis libero. The coach Sori of Top Volley lines up Baranowicz as setter, Dirlic as opposite-spiker, Maar and Rinaldi as hitter-spikers, Zingel and Wiltenburg as middle-blockers, Picchio libero.
The beginning is leaded by D’Heer; the Belgian middle-blocker starts immediately with three points (two at block and one in first time) that allow its teammates to reach 5-3. Cisterna reacts with Maar (7-7) and then the same Canadian hitter-spiker takes the home lead (11-13) with an ace and a good serve. Pinali’s aces gets even at 15; from that moment on the match continues shoulder-to-shoulder till 20-20, before that the Emilian opposite-spiker gets the external +2 (20-22) with a winning recovery. They quickly make a comeback, taking advantage of the two errors of Cavuto (23-23) and speeds up; Trento is still fighting, but at the fourth ball set loses 26-28 due to a Raffaelli’s attack.
The second set starts with balance (5-5 and 7-7), then Raffaelli is at serve and opens an important break phase for the locals (8-14), completed with some direct errors of the yellow-blue team. Lorenzetti takes advantage of both the time-outs available within some minutes, but the trend doesn’t change (13-20), although the good entry of Albergati (scored immediately three times) in the place of Pinali. The domestic 2-0 comes at 19-25, with the guest that are the main characters of a generous attempted comeback, that is immediately stopped by Maar and Dirlic.
In the third set Itas Trentino (with Pinali again in the court) tries to lift its head, but its attempt ends at 4-1 after Sbertoli’s ace, because Cisterna then gets wild at block and in the recovery, reaching the tie with Maar and the overtaking with Raffaelli (7-10 and 10-15). Lorenzetti at 10-16 (Michieletto’s error in attack) makes room for Albergati; the team doesn’t stop fighting (17-21) and at 20-24 stops the consecutive match points, thanks to a series of winning serve of Michieletto (2). At 23-24, the error at serve of the left-handed player ends the game: 23-25 and 3-0 for the hosts that qualifies for the Play Off Scudetto after five years of wait.
