SuperLega, Piacenza will arrive on Sunday at the BLM Group Arena

There are just a few training sessions left at the BLM Group Arena before Itas Trentino men team will compete for the first official match of the year 2023. On Sunday January 8th at 3.30 p.m. the yellow blue team will compete against Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in the match valid for the fourteenth turn of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca: this match is included in the subscription, tickets available on the direct link https://trentinovolley.vivaticket.it/it/event/itas-trentino-piacenza/199821.
This match raffles some important points for the rankings, in which at the moment the two teams are at the fourth and fifth position; Trento is three points ahead the opponents and intend to reconfirm this positive tradition in front of its public: in the last 13 years the BLM Group Arena has therefore been an unconquerable field for the opponents. We have to go back to May 17th 2009 to remember Piacenza’s success at the BLM Group Arena (3-2 in the Play Off 5th final match, with a following championship victory), when Angelo Lorenzetti was the white-red team’s coach.
As the statistics show, this competition has deeper roots: with already 66 previous victories Piacenza is the third most faced team in Trentino Volley’s history (Civitanova with 90 and Modena with 81 are ahead). The archive counts 39 regular season matches, 23 in the Play Off Scudetto (2008, 2009, 2013 finals and 2005, 2021 and 2022 quarterfinals), 2 in the Italian Cup (2014 semi-final and 2015 quarterfinal) and 2 in the CEV Cup (2017 quarterfinal).
The toll is in favour of Trento for 46-20, also thanks to the hat-trick of these last years; since Piacenza got back to the top national championship (2019/20 season), it has won two out of twelve official matches: the last two played at the PalaBanca (one victory at the tie break April 3d 2022 during the round 2 of the Play Off quarterfinals and a 3-1 victory in the first round of the regular season on October 16th 2022).
The first overall match was a little over than twenty years ago in Emilia: on December 29th 2022, Copra Ventaglio Piacenza.Itas Grundig Trentino, 0-3 thanks to Andrea Sartoretti (mvp with 18 points, 60% in attack, one block and two aces). In the than yellow-blue shortlist there were the present Trentino Volley’s Team Manger Riccardo Michieletto and Lorenzo Bernardi, the Emilian’s head coach until last week (now replaced with Massimo Botti).
