SuperLega, Piacenza wins 3-1 the afternoon match at the BLM Group Arena

Itas Trentino's 2023 opens with a home setback. This afternoon at the BLM Group Arena, the yellow-blue team had to reckon with their sixth defeat in the SuperLega Credem Banca regular season (their third in front of their own public), giving way to Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza after four sets that were fluctuating in both the progress and the performance.
The defeat in the match valid for the fourteenth round marks the hooking of the Emilians in fourth place with a quota of 25 against the hosts, who saw the unbeaten streak of their own stadium fall, thirteen and a half years after the last Emilian victory. In fact, Piacenza had not won in Trento since the evening of May 17th 2009, when they won Game 5 of the Play Off Final in the tie-break to win their first and only championship.
Today's victory certainly has less specific weight, but it nevertheless saw the guests often put Itas Trentino on the ropes, as happened in the first set (played better in attack and serving) and then also in the third and fourth quarters, after the locals had straightened things out with a second period of great substance. Romanò (best scorer with 16 points and two aces) and Simon (13 with a block and four point hits) managed to turn the tide again, leading the guests to success against a Trento that constantly struggled in reception and attacked far too foully. Podrascanin's blocks (6 wins) and Lavia's flashes at the net (15 points with 71%, his best) were not enough to guarantee the 3,000 spectators a chance to see a tie-break that Lorenzetti's team might have deserved, having tried several times (even in a poorly started fourth set) to write a different epilogue from the one that actually materialized on the court.

Below is the scoreboard of the match valid for the fourteenth matchday of the regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23 played this afternoon at the BLM Group Arena.
