Decospan Menen-Trentino Itas 0-3, the match report

Match report. Trentino Itas came to Tomabel Hal with a very experimental lineup: Captain Kaziyski stayed in Trento, but Lorenzetti initially offered a day of rest also to Lavia and Lisinac, reason why on the court at the kick-off we see Sbertoli as setter, Nelli as opposite, Michieletto and Džavoronok in position 4, D'Heer and Podrascanin as middle players, Laurenzano as libero. Decospan Vt Menen replies with Van Hoywegen as setter, Kindt as opposite, Capet and Hänninen as hitters, Sinnesael and Van de Velde as middle players, Stuer as libero.
The yellow-blue team's start is really effective in every set; Nelli sinks the shot in attack, Sbertoli serves with great continuity and also finds the direct point, D'Heer and Podrascanin block every ball. Within minutes Trento progressively increased the lead: 7-3, 11-4 and 13-6 with the hosts having already called both time-outs at their disposal. In the second part of the set Menen tries to react (16-10 and 21-15), but then loses further contact under the hits of an unstoppable Nelli, who closes the set with an attack on 25-15.
Decospan Vt tries to do better in the second set (1-3 and 4-5), also by taking advantage of Trentino’s errors, but thanks to Nelli, the hosts reverse the trend (8-7) before suffering from another break (Van Haoyweghen block over Džavoronok), which led Lorenzetti to call a timeout on 8-10. As the game resumes, Nelli scores once again at 10 points and then a +5 (15-12), making an ace and being extremely valuable in attack. Depestele calls timeout twice within minutes, but Trentino Itas makes no concessions (20-16) and brings a 2-0 home, with Lisinac and Pace on court at the place of Podrascanin and Laurenzano. However, Nelli is always the one who leads the game (25-19).
The third set is not so exciting; on 5-5 Trento tries to hold the set’s reins (8-5, 14-10 and 16-10), led by Nelli and D’Heer, who does great at the net, as well as Michieletto.
Menen struggles in reception and in attack and eases Trentino Volley’s sprint who secured the set (19-13). The determining point that gives the team the final Pool D record is given right by Nelli (25-16).
