Itas Trentino-Sir Safety Susa Perugia 2-3, the match report

The match report. Itas Trentino gets on court without Lisinac; Lorenzetti confirms the starting six already seen in the previous matches: Sbertoli as setter, Kaziyski as opposite spiker, Lavia and Michieletto as hitter spikers, Podrascanin and D’Heer as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Sir Safety Perugia replies with Giannelli as setter, Herrera Jaime as opposite spiker, Leon and Semeniuk in place 4, Flavio Gualberto and Russo as middle blockers, Colaci as libero. The start is in favour of the guests, who go wild at service and immediately find an advantage (1-3 and 3-5); Itas Trentino replies with the same weapon (Podrascanin’s ace for 5-5) and with Lavia (double fault for the opponents for 9-7). Herrera Jaime’s error makes a +3 for the yellow-blue team (12-9), then +4 thanks to Kaziyski (13-9), making Anastasi to call a timeout. As the game resumes, there is another scoring service by Podrascanin, after Perugia tries a comeback (from 13-11 to 16-12); then, D’Heer’s block widens the gap even more (+5, 18-13). The set final is in the hosts’ hands (20-15), who widens even more the gap with Kaziyski (23-16) and takes home the set on 25-19.
Sir Safety Susa tries to come back after the change of ends (1-4), risking all Herrera Jaime’s power, but Trento replies and finds the tie score with Kaziyski ‘s block on the Cuban opposite (6-6). The match goes on point-to-point with some difficulties until 12-13, then Perugia holds the reins again (12-16 and 13-19), by taking advantage of the yellow-blue uncertainties during the side-out phase, who were perfect until there. Leon and Herrera go wild; Lorenzetti inserts Džavoronok, but the Czech do not make it to improve the situation. The guests settle a score already on 18-25, with the yellow-blue reception struggling at every rotation.
The game restarts from the 1-1, but Perugia is more on the ball than its opponents, in fact it begins the third set in the same way as it closed the previous one, with a breakpoint series (0-4 and 3-8), always thanks to Herrera Jaime. Trento tries to stay focused (7-13 and 10-14), but right when it started believing it thanks to a more focused Michieletto, the Cuban opposite reopens the fight (13-17). Kaziyski at serve tries to hold the reins (18-21, Anastasi’s time out); Perugia smells the danger and does not give anything anymore (21-24), moving forward on the outer 1-2 already on 22-25.
Itas Trentino pulls itself back together in the fourth set, fighting point-to-point until 6-6 and going on to overtake its opponents after having suffered a lapse in the middle phase (from 7-11 to 10-11). The tie is now on 12 with Michieletto’s attack; then Perugia tries to overtake (13-15), but Herrera Jaime’s error makes the tie arrive on 17. Kaziyski blocks the Cuban opposite and scores the first set advantage (19-18, Anastasi’s time out), then Podrascanin blocks Flavio (+2, 21-19) and counterattacks for +3 (23-20). The tie break is behind the corner, but they all have to suffer until 24-23 to obtain it; Michieletto was essential at this (25-23).
Having lost the first point in the regular season, Sir Safety Susa tried not to give any more, taking advantage of Herrera Jaime's rediscovered streak (4-7). The hosts replied up to 5-8, then they had to give way to Umbrian's 32nd victory, which came at 11-15.
