Lavia to "RTTR Volley": "Milan is tough, but we want to reach the Coppa Italia Final"

On Monday night Daniele Lavia, Itas Trentino men’s team setter, was the only guest on the twenty-first seasonal episode of "RTTR Volley", a weekly magazine dedicated by the media partner to Trentino Volley. Here are some of the most interesting parts from the interview hosted by Sara Ravanelli.

MILAN. "Sunday night was really a great battle and we are so happy to have brought the win home because, the way it was set up, what we have done was not self-evident. We started a little bit slowly, especially with the serve; but our feeling was still that we were not playing badly. Although I can't say exactly why, from the third set we shifted gears; certainly from a technical and tactical point of view we were able to make a nice leap forward. The end of the fourth set was also a turning point in order to win the following tie break. We put in play the right energy."

ROME. “On Saturday we will play for the Coppa Italia semi-final against the same opponent, but I guess it will be a completely different match from the one played at the Allianz Cloud. The aim is to conquer the possibility to play also the day after; I don’t think that there will be approach or motivational problems, because the stakes are pretty high. Everybody wants to its best, but in this case, for the first time ever, the competition will happen on a neutral court and who will be the one to benefit from that, it’s all to see. Milano is a tough opponent with a great value and will give us anything, as it should be. We know that Rome’s favourite one will be Perugia, of course, but none of us is thinking of the Final; for now, we have to conquer the qualification, then we will think of the possible match on the day after".

MENGONI. “Marco is a longstanding volleyball lover. I got to know him during the last Nazionale Italiana’s World Championship, when we started exchanging some text messages and became more and more close to each other. Considering that we had to play in Milan, where he lives, on Sunday, we thought of inviting him and he accepted willingly. He watches all the five sets and we thank him for his presence but especially because he helped us to spread our charity project “Insieme”, in which together with Sbertoli and Cavuto, we raised funds by recording a song for the Protonterapia center of Trento. I know the song with which he won Sanremo by heart, we watched the program just for him".

TIE BREAK. “The five fifth sets played in a total of six matches in the recent weekend in SuperLega, prove again our balance and level on which this championship could rely on. There are no teams who play “bad volleyball” or have less important names than others. Every match must be faced with great humility and dynamism, without waiting for others' actions”.
