Acquarone: "At Fabio Soli's disposal: I am a competitive player and I like the fast game"

The first Trentino Volley player interview for Alessandro Acquarone, a 23-year-old Ligurian setter, was made official today.

Welcome to Trento! What are the sensations you feel when you wear the yellow shirt?
"A great emotion, because I dreamed of this moment since I started playing volleyball: to be able to land in a Top Team and there is no doubt that Trentino Volley is, not only nationally but also internationally. For many years I had hoped to receive a call of this type and now that it has arrived I am very happy; I obviously accepted immediately. I can’t wait to start".
What kind of player are you?
"I’m an agonist, I always like to leave every drop of energy on the field; I want to win, I always believe, to the end. On a technical level, then, I really like the fast game and serve my teammates in combination; for this you need to establish a great understanding with the middle-blocker” .
Have you talked to your new coach, Fabio Soli?
"Yes, we met in the last few days. I knew he had been following me for many years and the first interview was very stimulating in all respects. It made a really good impression on me, also because it showed that it had clear ideas about my role. He believes in the importance of the second setter, both because it must be a factor during the week and because it must always be ready during the game for a possible entry into the opera. It has made me more responsible and motivated".
What do you expect from your debut in SuperLega?
"For me it will be an unprecedented experience, because I have never played in this championship and I have never even been to Trento, so I will try to live to the maximum, with determination and curiosity, every moment. I hope it will be a formative season for my career, but at the same time I hope to connect quickly with the environment, already during the preparation for the pre-championship, in order to live at most a year in which I want to improve a lot also from the point of view of the management of the game".
Your department partner will be the Italian, European and World Champion Riccardo Sbertoli...
"I really admire him for what he has already done and for what he proposes every time on the field; he is certainly a player from whom I can learn a lot because he is young but already very bad at these levels. I hope to immediately build an important relationship with him, to confront us and try to help the team".
In Trento you will find players who have already been your teammates?
"Yes, with Daniele Lavia we played together in the 2018 European Under-20 Championship with Italy, while with Domenico Pace I shared a season at Santa Croce between 2021 and 2022. They will surely be my reference points in Trento, at least in the first months".
