Cucine Lube Civitanova-Itas Trentino 0-3, the match report

The match report. The starting six are as expected; Itas Trentino once again presents itself in full force with Soli choosing Sbertoli as the setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Lavia and Michieletto as spikers, Podrascanin and Kozamernik in the middle, and Laurenzano as libero. Cucine Lube Civitanova responds with De Cecco as setter, next to Lagumdzija, Zaytsev and Nikolov as spikers, Anzani and Chinenyeze in the middle, and Balaso as libero. The start is very balanced; the yellow-blue Team pushes hard with the block (2-0 and 6-4), but the hosts respond promptly with Zaytsev (8-7). Lagumdzija's error at the net gives +3 to the guests, forcing Blengini to call a timeout (11-8); after the break, the situation does not change, and Trento only increases its pace, taking advantage of multiple mistakes by the opponents (13-8 and 16-10) and aces from Rychlicki, Michieletto, and Podrascanin (18-11). Cucine Lube tries to react again with Zaytsev, this time at the serve (22-16), but the yellow-blue Team does not concede anything more and takes the first set at 25-17.
Itas Trentino builds on the good things done in the previous set to try to win the second set early: the block holds up well along with the defense, Michieletto scores a couple of difficult points, and Soli's team flies again to +3 (from 8-6 to 11-8). Civitanova, with Yant on the court instead of Nikolov, struggles in attack, and Trento has an inspired Alessandro, who widens the score gap (17-13); however, the home team continues to push, especially with the serve, and climbs back to 20-19, forcing coach Soli to call a timeout. At resumption, the Italian Champions find a new momentum (22-19) with Lavia and Michieletto and take the 2-0 lead at 25-22.
In the third set, Blengini also brings in Bottolo instead of Zaytsev, but it is still Trento dictating the game (7-4, 12-7) thanks to an increasingly well-established and effective playing system. Rychlicki, Michieletto, and Lavia don't miss a shot, Laurenzano defends, and Itas Trentino takes a +6 lead (16-10), winning in the end thanks to their left-handed spiker (who was rightly recognized as MVP): 21-14 and 25-16 with the final ace at the intersection of the lines in area 1.
