Valsa Group Modena-Itas Trentino 3-1, the match report

The report of the match. No changes to Itas Trentino's starting line-up, which coach Fabio Soli deploys from the very first exchange with Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki opposite, Lavia and Michieletto as hitter spikers in zone 4, Podrascanin and Kozamernik as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Valsa Group Modena replied with Bruno as a coach on the floor in diagonal with Sapozhkov, Davyskiba and Rinaldi as hitter spikers, Sanguinetti and Stankovic as middle blockers, Gollini as libero. Trento's start was very convincing in the break point phase: the guests immediately jumped to 3-1 and then 5-3, working well between blocking and defending. Modena climbed back up the ladder with Davyskiba (8-8), but then it was Kozamernik's block and serve (12-9) that opened up a new gap in favour of the italian champions, who held onto the lead for a long time (18-15 and 22-19), before closing with a block by Rychlicki at the second opportunity, on 25-21.
The music did not change in the first part of the second set: Podrascanin provided the first break in the score with a great block on Sapozhkov (5-3), imitated a few minutes later by Michieletto on Rinaldi (11-8). The ball changeover works wonders in the tricolours' half of the court, so the gap between the two teams remains unchanged (15-12) until Michieletto offers a further breakthrough (17-13). At the best moment of the half, however, Soli's team suffered the response of the locals led by Sapozhkov, making it 18-18. The coach then calls a time out, but when the match resumes, it's Modena again with Rinaldi (20-21 and 21-23). With Sbertoli serving, Itas Trentino made a three-point counter-break (24-23), but did not take advantage of the opportunity, which the hosts did with Davyskiba (attack and ace for 25-27).
The third set was fought point-to-point from start to finish; the Valsa Group tried to escape several times (0-3, 8-10 and 13-15), but Trento took it back up to 17-18 thanks to a great Michieletto and a very fighting Lavia. In the final part, the hosts accelerated with Rinaldi, Sapozhkov and their newfound efficiency in the batting (19-22), securing the 22-25 win that gave them the home advantage.
Down 1-2, Itas Trentino lost focus in all the fundamentals and slowly gave the hosts more and more space (3-5, 5-9), hoisted forward by Davyskiba. Modena always offends with their serve and finds a further spurt that takes them to +6 (10-16). Soli also spent the second time out at his disposal, after having inserted Magalini and Acquarone (on court instead of Rychlicki and Sbertoli) and Pace instead of Laurenzano, without however obtaining effective answers (14-20); an ace by Sapozhkov closed the match on 16-25.
