SuperLega, performance rankings legitimize the dominance of Itas Trentino

The excellent first leg of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 season for Itas Trentino is not measured just by the sole lead in the standings and the recently conquered winter title, the result of twenty-eight points earned in the first eleven rounds of the regular season. What truly underscores the quality of the journey done so far by the yellow-blue team are the performance rankings of the championship, defined by considering all the statistics (both global and individual) recorded in the games played thus far.
Soli's team currently holds the record for the highest total points (785), despite not having played more sets than many other teams (42, compared to Taranto's 49). They also have the highest number of break points: 292, Perugia is the closest pursuer with 283. The Italian Champions have excelled particularly in attack, with 604 successful spikes (14.38 per set – the second is again Sir Susa Vim with an average of 14.33 points per set), and in reception, being the team able to deliver the "perfect ball" to their setter multiple times in this crucial aspect of each set (6.12 – Perugia is second with 5.90 per set). The situation is also promising in blocking, where they have already recorded 108 blocks (2nd place behind Perugia, 114), and in serving, where only Modena has outperformed them (77 aces against Trentino's 74).
The same holds true when considering statistics related to individual players. In most of the thirteen merit rankings proposed by the Lega Pallavolo Serie A at this link, the yellow-blue athletes are consistently present in the top five. Absolute protagonist is Alessandro Michieletto, who leads the list dedicated to spikers (which examines all the fundamentals, creating a sort of quality index) with a score of 1.05. He is also third in rankings related to the highest number of points scored (191, with Faure leading at 215), the weighted average in attack (an index of 7.67), and aces (21 – Davyskiba leads with three more winning serves). No one has scored more break points than him in the first eleven rounds: 79. In the perfect receptions ranking, the left-handed yellow-blue player is in fourth place with 75 receptions, preceded by teammate Daniele Lavia (second with 76). The best receiver among the Italian Champions is libero Gabriele Laurenzano (second only to Juantorena in the weighted average ranking). Finally, it's worth noting the good start to the regular season by Kamil Rychlicki and Marko Podrascanin: the opposite is the fifth top scorer in the league (180 points) and the third athlete for successful attacks; the Serbian middle blocker is fourth in the blocks ranking (27, with Loser leading by 8 more) and occupies the same position in the category dedicated exclusively to his role, which takes into account all "active" fundamentals (in addition to block, attack, and serve). Jan Kozamernik is ninth in this category.
