Itas Trentino-Rana Verona 3-0, the match report

The match report. For the in-or-out challenge, Fabio Soli confirmed the usual starting six: Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as hitter spikers, Podrascanin and Kozamernik as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Verona, with the long line-up of former players led by Stoytchev and Simoni on the bench, responded with Zingel and Mosca as middle blockers italian Champion Džavoronok (awarded a prize by the club before the opening whistle) in the band along with Mozic, Spirito as setter, Amin at second and D'Amico as libero. The start was scorching for the hosts: a point defence by Rychlicki unleashed the Trentino break point machine, which was immediately activated with the wall and Lavia's winning rebuilds. At 5-0 Scaligeri immediately took refuge in a time out, but then the situation became even rosier for the Italian champions, who took advantage of the difficulties in reception and at the net of the opponents to widen the gap considerably (9-2 and 11-3). Trento played loose, Verona suffered and was unable to close the gap (16-7, 18-18), also because Soli's team did not loosen its grip. At 20-8, after two consecutive aces by Lavia, the set was already in the archives and it only took a few exchanges to change the score to 25-14 (pipe by Michieletto).
The music did not change in the second set, which was characterised by Alessandro's own (attack and block on Džavoronok), which made the score 6-1, forcing Stoytchev to call a time out and inserting Keita in place of Amin, but it was not until 13-9 (Mozic's attack) that Rana reacted. Itas Trentino did not flinch and started again with their own weapons (defence and counter-attack), but on 18-14 they had a brief lapse in reception, suffering two consecutive aces from Spirito (18-17). Soli interrupted the game and when it resumed he got the response he wanted from his team, which came through Lavia's point shot and counter-attacks by Rychlicki and Michieletto (20-17 and 23-18). The 2-0 lead arrived on 25-19 with another counter-attack by the yellow-blue number 5.
In the third set, the score was different, with the two teams battling for the lead in the scoreline, immediately fighting point to point (5-5, 8-8), with Verona finding the cue with Džavoronok (an ace for 8-10), which was immediately recomposed by Podrascanin's block (10-10). They fight point to point until 15-15, then Michieletto sinks the blow with a diagonal (17-15); Rana replies until 19-19, then the ITALIAN CHAMPIONS do not allow them to get any closer (21-19, 23-21 and 25-23).
