SuperLega, Itas Trentino wins the 84th derby of the A22

The eleventh consecutive victory in SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 puts the best possible seal on Itas Trentino's regular season. Overcoming Valsa Group Modena 3-0 this evening at the IlT quotidiano Arena, the Italian Champions mathematically conquered the first place in the standings with two rounds in advance, thus securing the number 1 seed in the upcoming Play Off Scudetto (which will start on Wednesday, March 6). Having reached this goal by defeating the only team that had so far been able to stop them in the previous nineteen matches (in four sets on 10 December at PalaPanini) was a further added value for the Gialloblù, who were once again able to keep up their pace of play and contain errors (just three at the net), taking the reins of contention as early as the end of the first set.
Modena's fast start had in fact put the hosts in difficulty until 13-16 in the opening set, then with Michieletto's growth (best scorer 12 points), Lavia's attacks (mvp), and Nelli's good entrance (for a sore Rychlicki shoulder), the situation on the court changed diametrically.
Itas Trentino became masters of the court, with an increasingly effective block and a sharp service that allowed them to take a 2-0 lead. Despite the fact that the eighth regular season victory in the history of Trentino Volleyball (the previous had come in 2015) was already certain, thanks to the conquest of that point in the standings that was still missing to have the comfort of mathematics (just enough to become unreachable for the first pursuer Perugia), Soli's team did not back down even afterwards and closed the match in the third period with an unusual set-up that gradually saw almost all the players shine (Magalini, D'Heer, Acquarone and Cavuto).

Below is the scoreboard of the match of the 20th day of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 played this evening at the ilT quotidiano Arena in Trento.
