Another young player promoted to the Senior Team: Marco Pellacani!

Alessandro Bristot will not be the only player to complete the transition from the Youth Sector to Trentino Volley’s SuperLega first team in the summer of 2024. Together with him, Marco Pellacani will also make the big jump, in order to strengthen the battery of middle blockers in the 2024/25 roster of the European Champion Itas Trentino.
The 19-year-old, originally from Udine but in Trento since 2006, represents one of the most interesting prospects on the Italian scene in his role, thanks to a height that will immediately place him among the tallest in the entire category (210 centimetres), but also through potential that convinced the yellow-blue Club to bet on him. Pellacani started taking his first steps on the volleyball court in 2017 with Promovolley, before moving to Trentino Volley's Youth Sector in 2020, where in addition to the category championships he played two Serie C tournaments and, between 2022 and 2024, two exciting seasons in Serie B with the UniTrento Volley jersey, culminating with his recent participation in the Play Off Promotion. Last season, he scored 345 points in 29 matches played with the university jersey and 43 points in five matches in the Junior League Final Eight, which ended just a fortnight ago with the silver medal.
In the summer of 2023, he had already trained with Itas Trentino seniores under the orders of Fabio Soli, who will become his coach from August. Before starting training, however, he could gain further experience at high levels by taking part in the Under-22 European Championships with the Italian national team. Right now, Marco is in Cavalese for the third training camp in preparation for the continental tournament, which will take place from 9 to 14 July in Groningen and Apeldoorn, in the Netherlands, and he is in the running to be one of the middle blockers called up for the occasion.
“I grew up in Trento and became passionate about volleyball almost immediately, following most of Trentino Volley's great triumphs from the stands - revealed Marco Pellacani - . So, the joy and excitement go hand in hand with the pride and honour of being able to join the roster of the European Champions. Next season will be a great training ground for me, not only in technique and tactics but also in life: being able to live alongside great champions on a daily basis will make me grow in all aspects. Even though I'll be the fourth middle blocker, I think it will be a truly stimulating adventure for me, if only because of what I'll experience in every training session”.
“Pellacani, thanks to his physical and technical qualities, is an interesting prospect - underlined coach Fabio Soli - ; the fact that he is currently working with the National Under 22 team is further confirmation of what I am saying. Together with Bristot, he deserved to land in the first team and for us it is a pleasure but also a duty to offer an outlet to the work that the Youth Sector carries out day after day. Few Clubs in Italy can offer this opportunity to their best talents and we are proud to be able to do so”.
Pellacani is the 27th player to make it to the first team after completing the course in the yellow-blue Youth Sector; he will wear the jersey number 8.
