Sir Susa Vim Perugia-Itas Trentino 3-2, Supercoppa Final match report

The match report. Fabio Soli had to do without opposite Rychlicki, who injured his ankle during the second set of the semi-final against Monza on Saturday, and therefore confirmed his natural replacement Gabi Garcia in the starting six, which also included Sbertoli at the direction, Michieletto and Lavia at the hitter spiker’s position, Flavio and Kozamernik as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Sir Susa Vim responded with Giannelli as setter, Ben Tara asopposite, Ishikawa and Semeniuk as hitter spiker, Loser and Russo as middle blockers, Colaci as libero. The match got off to a vibrant start; Trento tried to escape twice thanks to Flavio and Gabi Garcia's wall (5-3 and 7-5), but was punctually taken back by the opponents with Ishikawa (8-8). A new Flavio hit (another block) allowed another breakaway attempt (10-8), with the +3 coming a few seconds later thanks to a Semeniuk error (14-11, Umbrian time out). When play resumed, the same Semeniuk forced the serve, allowing Sir Susa Vim to post a peremptory 0-6 lead, also seasoned by an ace and simple rebuilds that brought the score to 14-17. Soli called his men back to the bench, without getting the desired response, as the Italian champions then stretched further (16-20 and 17-23), quickly closing the accounts on 18-25.
Itas Trentino tried to turn over a new leaf after the change of court and, propelled at the net by Gabi Garcia, regained a promising lead (5-3 and 10-6). Perugia staggered and seemed to recover with Ishikawa (16-13), but then Lavia (block and attack) marked the difference (22-15), allowing the yellow-blue to travel fast towards the 1-1 point in the final set, which actually arrived at 25-19.
In the third set the yellow-blue got off to a better start from the blocks, thanks to a sumptuous start by Michieletto (two pipes for 7-4). Gabi Garcia imitated him but from the nine-metre line for 11-7. Trento ran away without being caught again and in an increasingly convincing manner (20-14), also thanks to Kozamernik's blocks and Flavio's sharp serves. The 2-1 for the European champions arrived already on 25-15 with Michieletto.
With their backs against the block, Perugia reacted by relying on Semeniuk and a revived Ben Tara; the high ball pair brought the first important tear to the score (5-7 and then 7-10), forcing Itas Trentino to interrupt the game. When the game resumed, it was Ishikawa who dictated the pace (12-16) with the yellow-blue suffering greatly in the second line. Sir Susa Vim conceded nothing and took the contest to the tie break already on 17-25.
In the fifth set, the Umbrians got off to a flying start with serve and counterattack (0-4 and 2-6); it was already the decisive moment: Ishikawa then closed the score on 9-15.
