Mint Vero Volley-Itas Trentino 0-3, the match report

Match Report. Itas Trentino started the match in Monza with the same starting six that Soli used in the first set on Tuesday in Chaumont: Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as outside hitters, Bartha and Flavio as middle blockers, and Laurenzano as libero. Mint Vero Volley's lineup included Kreling as setter, Frascio as opposite, Rohrs and Marttila as outside hitters, Beretta and Averill as middle blockers, and Gaggini as libero. The beginning of the match was very balanced (4-4 and 8-8), with neither team gaining more than a one-point advantage. Trento managed to pull ahead thanks to two consecutive blocks: Rychlicki on Rohrs and Lavia on Frascio, making it 14-11 and forcing coach Eccheli to call a timeout. Upon resumption, the yellow and blue team continued to set the pace (17-14 and 21-16) with both their blocks and attacks from the Luxembourger opposite. The first set was swiftly won by the visitors, ending at 25-20, with Lavia prominently featured: his pipe shot sent the teams to the changeover.
Itas Trentino begins the second set well (4-1 and 7-2), thanks to excellent net work by Bartha and Sbertoli and the consistent performance of Rychlicki. The opposite player is having a great evening, leading his teammates to further extend their lead (12-6), forcing the home coach to use both of his timeouts quickly. After the break, it’s still a yellow-blue monologue (15-9 and 19-13) until Rohrs finds a couple of good serves that put the visitors' side-out system under pressure (19-16), forcing Soli to call a timeout. After the break, the German continues to apply pressure with his serves; Trento struggles until 19-18, but then recovers with Flavio's block (23-20) and Rychlicki's block (25-21).
On the 2-0, Monza lowers its intensity and once again suffers the counterattack from the European Champions, who, with their defensive wall, immediately pull ahead (3-1 and 5-2). The home team struggles in all fundamentals, and Trento takes advantage to extend their lead further (11-3 and 15-8), even with Kozamernik on the court. The 3-0 victory comes already at 25-15, with both coaches rotating their players, perhaps also thinking about the upcoming important commitments.
