Trentino Itas-Chaumont Vb 52 3-0, the match report

Match Summary: Trentino Itas takes the court for the third time in the last seven days in front of its home crowd with a starting six that includes Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as outside hitters, Flavio and Kozamernik as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. Chaumont VB 52, coached by former player Prandi, counters with Worsley as setter, Toledo as opposite, Henno and Suihkonen as outside hitters, Holdaway and Maase as middle blockers, and Closter as libero.
The start of the match is balanced, with Chaumont managing to stay slightly ahead, though only in the side-out phase (4-5). A net error by Henno gives the first home lead (7-6), but the same player turns the tide with an ace shortly after (9-10). In the middle of the set, Trentino pulls ahead thanks to Michieletto’s offensive productivity (one attack and two aces, followed by a timeout for a 14-11 lead), but Toledo and a wide attack by Lavia bring the score back even (15-15). A block by Sbertoli on Suihkonen and aggressive play at the net from Rychlicki (two attacks and one block) create the final gap (23-19), with Trento closing the set 25-21 to lead 1-0.
In the second set, it’s once again the Luxembourg-born opposite, Rychlicki, who leads the charge and makes the difference (4-2 and 8-5). Chaumont tries to stay in touch (9-7), but Kamil extends the lead further (11-7). However, this is not the decisive break as the yellow-blues make several errors, allowing the French team to get back into the match (13-12). Trentino then pushes on with strong serving and blocking, creating a new lead (19-14), helped by the inaccuracies of the visitors. Prandi calls a timeout, but when play resumes, it’s all Trentino, who cruises to a 25-16 victory.
With qualification already secured, both coaches decide to field their second-string players in the third set, with Soli sending Acquarone in as setter, Gabi Garcia as opposite, Magalini and the young Fedrici as outside hitters, Bartha and Pellacani as middle blockers, and Pesaresi as libero. Trentino immediately finds a good rhythm (5-3 and 8-4), but Chaumont responds well with their high-ball attackers (9-8). The momentum shifts decisively with Gabi Garcia and Pellacani (14-12 and 18-14); the 3-0 win comes quickly (22-17 and 25-18), with Magalini also standing out.
