Playoffs, on Sunday Finals Game 3 at ilT quotidiano Arena

Game 3 of the 2025 SuperLega Credem Banca Scudetto Playoff Finals will be played on Sunday, May 4 at the ilT Quotidiano Arena in Trento. Itas Trentino will return in front of its home crowd aiming to reclaim the lead in the best-of-five series against Cucine Lube Civitanova, currently tied at 1-1. First serve is scheduled for 3:20 PM CEST, with live coverage on RAI 2, Radio Dolomiti, and streaming on DAZN and VBTV.
ITAS TRENTINO UPDATE The yellow-blue team is counting on the home-court advantage and the support of its passionate fans—expected to fill every seat at the arena—to bounce back from Thursday’s loss and move ahead in the series. With the score tied at one apiece, Trentino has the potential advantage of playing two of the remaining three matches at home. Captain Riccardo Sbertoli and his teammates will aim to capitalize on this, especially considering that the winner of Game 3 will have two opportunities to clinch the Scudetto.
"The first two matches of the series were very different from each other, with both teams making the most of their strengths at home," said head coach Fabio Soli. "Now I expect even more intense and extreme scenarios compared to the previous games. We'll be under pressure to get a result against a team that will do everything to stop us. That’s the nature of the Playoff Finals. Our task is to face it with calm, determination, and the goal of expressing our best volleyball. Respecting our opponent also means recognizing the value of our own talent and abilities."
Coach Soli has the full roster available, which also trained at the ilT Quotidiano Arena earlier this afternoon. Sunday will mark Trentino Volley’s 164th match in Scudetto Playoff history (98 wins and 65 losses) and their 88th home Playoff match (67 wins).
GAME 3 FINALS HISTORY: FOUR WINS, TWO LOSSES Trentino Volley has previously played Game 3 of the Scudetto Finals six times (out of nine total Finals appearances), earning four victories—all by 3-0 scores—against Piacenza in 2008 and 2013, against Modena in 2015, and against Civitanova in 2023. The two defeats came in 2009 (2-3 at home vs. Piacenza) and in 2017 (1-3 in Civitanova).
In five of those occasions, the series was tied 1-1 heading into Game 3 (2008, 2009, 2013 vs. Piacenza; 2015 vs. Modena; 2023 vs. Civitanova). Trentino went on to win the Scudetto four times, falling short only in 2009.
THE OPPONENTS Following their win in Game 2 on Thursday, Cucine Lube Civitanova returns to Trento with renewed confidence. Coach Giampaolo Medei’s team showed continuity from parts of their strong Game 1 performance and proved once again that their aggressive serving can be a game-changer. The red-and-whites will look to replicate that performance on Sunday, hunting for another crucial road win—something they’ve managed in every away match this postseason (Game 2 & 4 in Milan, Game 3 & 5 in Perugia). Over 150 Lube fans are expected to travel and will be seated in Section F of the arena.
HEAD-TO-HEAD Sunday will mark the 106th meeting between the two clubs, and the seventh clash of the current season. Lube leads the all-time series 58-47, while the 2024/25 season record is evenly split at 3-3. So far, each team has defended home court (2-2). At the ilT Quotidiano Arena, Trentino has won 27 of 43 matchups against Lube, who hasn’t won in Trento since October 20, 2022 (in a tie-break). Trentino has hosted Civitanova 13 times in the Scudetto Playoffs, winning on seven occasions.
THE SERIES With the Finals tied at 1-1, the 2025 SuperLega Credem Banca Scudetto Playoff Finals between Itas Trentino and Cucine Lube Civitanova continues in Trento on Sunday. Game 1 went to Trentino (3-0 on April 27; 25-20, 25-23, 25-21), while Game 2 saw Lube bounce back with a 3-0 win on home soil (25-21, 25-21, 25-22). Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 at 8:30 PM at the Eurosuole Forum. If needed, a decisive Game 5 will be played in Trento on Sunday, May 11 at 6:00 PM (subject to confirmation).
OFFICIALS Game 3 will be officiated by Umberto Zanussi (Treviso; in Serie A since 2006) and Andrea Pozzato (Bolzano; on the national roster since 2004), in their 15th joint appearance in SuperLega and fifth this season. Zanussi will officiate his 16th match of the 2024/25 season, fifth involving Trentino (with all four previous matches resulting in Trentino victories). He has refereed Trento vs. Civitanova three times before—each ending in a Trentino win. Pozzato also reaches his 16th match of the season, having previously officiated multiple Trentino victories. The only prior match he refereed between Trento and Lube was on May 1, 2023—once again with Zanussi—and ended in a 3-0 win for Trentino.
TV, RADIO & ONLINE COVERAGE The match will be a global media event, broadcast live across multiple platforms. On television, it will air on RAI 2, available on digital terrestrial TV and via the "Rai Play" app.
Live radio commentary will be provided by Radio Dolomiti, official media partner of Trentino Volley. Frequencies for the regional network can be found at www.radiodolomiti.com, where the match can also be streamed live.
Live video streaming is also confirmed on OTT platforms DAZN and VBTV (both subscription-based services).
