The new Head Coach Marcelo Mendez: "Here to continue Trentino Volley's great tradition"

The prestigious room Sala Belli in the Palace of the Autonomous Province of Trento, in Piazza Dante, inaugurated this morning the first meeting with the press of Marcelo Mendez as new coach of the Trentino Volley men's team. On the day of his official presentation, the new coach was greeted by a crowded gathering of journalists, professionals, and, above all, the most important host: the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti.
“With pride and emotion we present the new Trentino Volley coach Marcelo Mendez” he declared. "The new coach arrives at a Trentino club that has been a leading figure in the world of national and international sport for several decades. Even in the recent results of the Italian men's national volleyball team, there is much of Trento and the work of Trentino Volley. Mendez joins a club with high ambitions at a happy time for provincial sports, which is celebrating Nadia Battocletti's world medal and the 2031 'Super Worlds' Cycling Championships. Speaking of cycling, I want to fondly remember Stefano Casagranda, first a former professional cyclist and later a capable sports manager, who passed away just yesterday."
"The decision to bring Mendez to the bench of the men's Itas Trentino team is part of our strategy to continue achieving important results on the court and to continue the growth of our players, who are still young and have room for professional and personal improvement," explained Bruno Da Re, a Board Member for Trentino Volley. "I am sure this is the right choice. Marcelo wasn't immediately very lucky, considering Lavia's recent injury; this is an unforeseen event that hasn't changed our objectives but has affected our expectations. However, I am sure that with the skills of this coach and the players, we will still manage to maintain a high technical level."
"Coach Mendez is a winning coach," stated the Provincial Councillor for Sport, Mattia Gottardi, "and he is now part of a club that has a history and the expectation of still winning a lot. The many national and international trophies won are not a matter of chance, but the result of commitment, hard work, and professionalism. Trentino Volley has the great merit of being able to stay at the top of world volleyball, also thanks to investments and serious work on the youth academy, which has nurtured its athletes, and today has the pride of having the best player from the recently concluded World Championships in the team. We wish Trentino Volley a good season, and welcome, Coach Mendez."
"I thank the Autonomous Province of Trento for the welcome and especially Trentino Volley for choosing me as coach," were Marcelo Mendez's first words at the press conference. "I have traveled the world, coaching both club teams and national teams, and Italy was a country missing from my coaching journey: arriving here at a club of such great prestige is the most I could wish for. I am aware that I will not have a simple task, given that the team has won a lot in recent years. The goal is to continue this tradition, qualifying for as many competition Finals as possible and, obviously, trying to win them. We will face a very high-level championship like the Italian SuperLega, and we will play in a Champions League full of quality teams that have reinforced themselves significantly over the summer. We also want to develop the young players in the squad, because the team includes players who are already established and others who can be soon."
