The second defeat in the regular season SuperLega UnipolSai 2014/14 suffered Sunday evening at Molfetta took away the first place from the ENERGY T.I. Diatec Trentino. After four match days lived as a leader of the tournament, the yellow-blue players slipped to the second place managing though to move one step up in the ranking and to limit the attempt of break of Modena, which now watches from above with two lengths in front of the Stoytchev team. In the fifteen matches played until now, then, only in occasion of the match against Verona on November 1st, the Trentino Volley has not scored points.
The K.O. for 2-3 in Apulia has yet stopped the trail of ten successes in a row and left some bitterness to the yellow-blue team, as the Assistant Coach Dario Simoni well explains the day after the match of PalaPoli. “Molfetta behaved better than us during the five sets that we played – points out immediately the trainer from Brescia - , but our biggest regret is linked to some important occasions that we did not manage to exploit to close the match much before the tie break. I am thinking, for example, about the second set, a fraction that got out of our hand after a promising start; in that circumstance, after being in front for a couple of points, we did not manage to contain the hit of Torres and Sket, and then everything became harder. The difficulties clearly shown in the digging, not only in the jump serve but also in the float tactic, have demonstrated that on the long run our team is paying the fact of not being able to train during the week in order to prepare for the single matches. The improvements that we registered in our game between November and December were actually the result of the great job that we did in the gym, but that, later on, we could not keep up due to a calendar that since last month has always seen us going in for three matches every week”.
“We were waiting anxiously for the end of this tour de force in order to be able to go back to work carefully and quietly at the PalaTrento – Simoni continued -. We have to grow under many points of view, first of all on the digging but also the block and on the break point stage; after Tuesday we will finally have the time to do it, and we will try to take advantage of this to the full. We have a pool of many young elements that need to train themselves continuously even before playing games; the qualitative leap of our team in view of the Playoff championship needs their help too. We start again with a lot of drive and the will to go back to play a high level volleyball. Saturday afternoon with Verona at the PalaTrento will be again the time of a very difficult but amazing match too. The Calzedonia has grown a lot in the last period benefitting also from the time allowed by the calendar to train itself well and fully, and now its being on the third place is not by chance. It will be a real battle but the ENERGY T.I. Diatec Trentino has demonstrated time after time to be ready for fights like this one”.
The yellow-blues, already back to Trento already on Sunday night, will be back to training Tuesday morning for the first of the two training sessions planned for the day.
