The ENERGY TI Diatec Trentino has raised its voice in Poland, winning the tie-break in the first leg of the 2015 CEV Cup semifinals. After their marvelous performance three days ago at PalaPanini Modena, the Yellow-Blues confirmed their superiority over the Azoty Kedzierzyn Kozle Arena, in a game that was difficult and contested upon; the 3-2 win over hosts of Zaksa allowed the Trentino Volley to be rewarded with the 4th European final in their history. To execute the final act in the continental tournament for the cup, Birarelli and his teammates will have to win by any score the return match next Saturday at PalaTrento. The first step over the double comparison was accomplished by tiring the hosts towards the end of the standoff, which exhausted them and made the game more exciting.
The Stoytchev team was playing better, advancing their game in the first set and a half, but taking a turn for the Kedzierzyn-Kozle team with the Dutch duo Kooy and Van Dijk. The former player (best scorer with 29 points, three aces and a wall) held his ground by dragging them to double points of the partial (from 0-1 to 1-1 and then 1-2 to 2-2) but because of the exhausting game it seemed the hosts raised a white flag and gave up since the yellow-blues suppressed them on all fronts especially thanks to the class of Kaziyski. The sets won by Yellow-blues, where due to a mix of well guided attacks, strokes and blocks, which occurred in the decisive phase of the tie-break (from 16-17 to 19-17). Matey (22 points with 61% in the network, a block and an ace), and the central axis Birarelli-Solé with fourteen points a piece with significant percentages in the first half along with the services that are an important part in the outcome from the start to the conclusion of the match.
