ENERGY TI Diatec Trentino gives an encore in match 2 in Puglia, reaching the semifinals of the Super League Play Off UnipolSai 2015. On the field of Exprivia Neldiritto Molfetta, which in the regular season had reserved one of three defeats of the championship, Birarelli and teammates have redeemed the tie break knockout of January 25th, using immediately the first of two opportunities to conclude the quarter-final series. The second victory in four days in Puglia allows the Yellow-blues to reach their first step toward the championship final, winning at the same time the seventh semifinal playoffs in the last eight years (the eighth absolute victory of Trentino Volley in fifteen years of activity). In this occasion the team will challenge Verona or Perugia.
The seal on the result came through an hard 3-2 achieved tonight at the end of a great balanced match; this happened because Stoytchev’s team faced an incredible tough opponent, who played very hard catching up twice (from 0-1 to 1-1 and 1-2 to 2-2) before raising the white flag. As usual, the Yellow-blues’ character shown at the tie-break was decisive, such as their block (scored 19 times in five sets, eleven with only two central Solé and Birarelli) and the contribution of the bench. The diagonal Giannelli-Djuric, which started from the bench, has in this case saved the situation: the young setter from Bolzano played very well in the most difficult time of the match by signing almost alone, between block and attack, the decisive break in the fifth set. Instead his greek opposite has immediately proven to be entered in tune with his teammates, by holding the field well and closing the match with 10 points and 56% at the net. In double-digit also Kaziyski (best scorer with 15 yellow-blues winning balls), Lanza (14) and the diagonal 3 (Birarelli 13, Solé 12).
