Trento, April 30th, 2015
On Friday, May 1st, at PalaTrento will commence the third and decisive game of the semifinal series in Super League PlayOffs for UnipolSai 25 between Diatec Trentino and Sir Safety Perugia. Three days prior to the second match, which resulted in a draw between the 2 teams, that will then return to the field for Game 3 that will give access to the championship final, to be played with Modena. The match will be on Live TV on Rai Sport 2 and on Radio Dolomiti.
The yellow-blues are facing the most important game of their Italian season : if they win they would hold the seventh championship final in the last eight years, but if they lose they would stop short of the national title (which they won the last two years) in the semifinals as previously won in the 2005/06 season. The playoff at PalaTrento, where this season has come, has seen twenty-one official matches (with Moscow on April 7th), and it will be an advantage to be exploited to the maximum.
"Game 3 will be our second chance to win the qualification to the final; if we want it we have to play better than we were able to do in Perugia on Tuesday night” - admitted the coach of Trentino Volley Radostin Stoytchev -. “Playing in front of our fans we will surely give us an extra boost, but we must take into account that at PalaTrento with Perugia in Game 1 offered a very effective test to show that they can play well outside their court. We have to regain concentration and our physical strength but also greater clarity in all the fundamentals.”
For this game, the Bulgarian technician, will call upon all fourteen players, which will complete the preparation for the match working out at PalaTrento this afternoon and tomorrow morning.
PREVIOUSLY This will be the eleventh official confrontation between Trentino Volley and Sir Safety Perugia, since the last challenge that was fairly recent but and significant; historically, and in addition to six regular season games played between 2012 and 2015 and the two matches played in the semifinal series in progress, there has been two knockout matches in the main draw for the Italian Cup, both won by Trentino: 3-1 in the quarter-finals in 2013 and 3-2 in the semifinal edition 2015. Stats favour Club's President Diego Mosna 8-2 thanks to four wins in five matches this season. The only success the Umbrian achieved at PalaTrento was thirteen and a half months ago: March 16th, 2014, 1-3 in the match of the regular season 2013/14; during the last four months the Trentino has always won by 3-1 against team Grbic: January 18th and April 25th in the championship in Game 1.
SERIES Trento and Perugia are 1-1 in the series of Super League for the PlayOffs in semifinals for UnipolSai 2015 which ends tomorrow night, by virtue of 3-1 (29-31, 25-18, 25-23, 25-18) in game 1 at PalaTrento on April 25th along with an identical score by the yellow-blues (25-22, 28-26, 12-25, 25-18) obtained from Umbria in Game 2 at PalaEvangelisti. These results have inevitably necessitated the third and final playoff game. Who's turn will exceed the number of the final (best of five games, the first is scheduled on Sunday May 3rd) the Parmareggio Modena, who overcame 2-0 Latina.
REFEREES The contest will be conducted by Homer Satanassi (referee Out of Porto - Ravenna, role since 1996 and internationally since 2003) and Stefano Cesare, from Rome, in the highest category since 1999 and internationally since 2010. The two are in their second game of the season in Super League joint UnipolSai 2014/15 (also in Game 3 which they had previously refereed the quarter-Verona Perugia 3-1), the sixteenth for Satanassi (which this season has already directed in the Trento-Verona with a 3-1 home success on January 31st), the eighteenth to Caesar, which already has three crossings in the season with the yellow-blues: Trento-Modena 3-0 of December 21st, Treia-Trent 3-2 March 1st and Piacenza-Trento 1-3 of April 4th.
