The libero of Diatec Trentino Matteo Chiappa

ph. Trabalza

Frosinone, December 12th 2017

Diatec Trentino immediately on the field again for the anticipation match of the 12th turn (the one-to-last of the going round) of SuperLega Unipolsai 2017/18, which will be completed during next weekend. In this occasion as well the yellow-blues will play an away match on Wednesday December 13th at PalaSport in Frosinone versus Biosì Indexa Sora. The start of the match is scheduled for 8.30 p.m.: live broadcast on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel by clicking at www.elevensports.it/superlega.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO After the positive away match in Vibo Valentia, the team from Trentino stops off in Lazio, where it directly arrived from Calabria in the late afternoon of Monday, aiming for the fifth victory in a row in championship (the sixth in a row if we count the 3-1 of last week in Maaseik in Champions League as well). A positive result could possibly allow Diatec Trentino to remain in the Play Off zone and maybe further bridge the gap with the first teams in ranking.
I would have objectively preferred to play this match in the weekend and not within days from the one played in Vibo Valentia – admitted Diatec Trentino’s coach Angelo Lorenzetti, presenting the match - ; we have very short recovery times, we have to verify the physical condition of De Pandis (who left the field last Sunday during the second set already dye to a pain at his knee) and, besides, we will face Sora, which is a in good shape and is coming from its first championship victory. Our opponents didn’t obtain their victory on Friday in Bari just by luck, they’re playing a good volleyball and they’re improving a lot. Therefore, this is a thorny and hard match”.
In the late afternoon of today the team will train at PalaPolsinelli in Sora, allowing the yellow-blue coach to verify the condition of the libero from Puglia and to choose who among the spikers will play (one among Lanza, Hoag and Kovacevic will have to stay on the bench) and who will play as an opposite (Teppan or Vettori).
On Wednesday night Trentino Volley will play the 731st official match of its history (with an overall of 507 victories and 223 defeats), the 16th of regular season and will chase the 12th away victory of 2017, the fourth in a row (last ko on November 15th in Perugia).
THE OPPONENTS The tie break victory obtained on Friday night at PalaFlorio in Bari versus Castellana Grotte allowed Biosì Indexa Sora to break the ice in SuperLega: after eleven matches, the black-and-white team achieved their first victory, climbing the ranking and getting closer to BCC itself. In high spirits, the team coached by Mario Barbiero is so waiting for Diatec Trentino at PalaSport in Frosinone, the field in which, starting from this season, Biosì Indexa Sora plays its matches and in which it obtained only one victory on an overall of five up to now, thanks to the 2-3 versus Latina. Despite its position at last in ranking, the team from Lazio is a group which has interesting players: the Serbian opposite Petkovic is in fact the second-best scorer of the championship with 217 points in eleven matches and he is the main reference point in attack for the Bulgarian setter Seganov. There’s lot of talent among the spikers as well, thanks to Danish Nielsen Rasmus (among the twenty best spikers of the tournament), who usually plays together with the veteran Rosso, at his third season in Lazio.
The middle-blocker Mattei and the libero Santucci are two other players with great experience of the starting six, in which finds space also another Italian young player, the middle-blocker Caneschi (former Club Italia).
