Trento, November 8th 2016
The ninth round of regular season of SuperLega UnipolSai 2016/17 will be played again tomorrow, Wednesday November 9th, the fourth played during the week. Diatec Trentino will be a guest team, in this case at PalaOlimpia (in this season named AGSM Forum) of Verona to play against per Calzedonia for the traditional “derby of Adige”. The match will begin at 8.30 p.m., with live coverage on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel at this link www.sportube.tv.
HERE DIATEC TRENTINO The match in Verona initiates a series of four decisive matches (in eleven days) to establish the ranking position of Trento’s team in the away round. Then Lanza and his team mates will play against Civitanova (in a home match on November 13th), Piacenza and Modena (in an away match on 17th and 20th). Diatec Trentino achieved a crucial intersection of its championship with at its back the best credentials possible: seven victories in seven matches played, 20 points conquered and third position in the ranking list, stolen on Sunday evening right to Verona.
“Our away round gets to the heart, coming up with commitments with high ranked teams – the coach Angelo Lorenzetti explains - . In this period, two aspects will be fundamental: first of all, gaining the greatest number of points, knowing that it’s impossible to always conquer the all stake; secondly the growth of the play actions. So far we have done well, but the upcoming matches will be able to verify our effective valor and help us grow more. Personally, I think that Verona has strengthen more, but at the same time often nobody says enough of its actual valor. The presence of talents in the team like Baranowicz, Zingel, Kovacevic and Djuric, who Trento know well, should deserve more attention , the same attention we will use to prepare as well as possible this match”. The whole team will arrive in Verona on Wednesday morning, giving the possibility to the coach of Trentino a wide choice of the official six players, which in the last matches have often changed significantly. In Veneto, Diatec Trentino will play the 674th match of its history, the 367th away match of which it won 230.
THE ADVERSARIES The definitive defeat on Sunday of Azimut Modena, the Italian Champion, didn’t modified Calzedonia Verona’s balance in the first part of regular season 2016/17. After this summer important strengthening management campaign of Verona, the Yellow-blue team showed its strength between the most equipped teams of SuperLega, achieving the highest positions in the ranking list thanks to its great continuity of results. In fact, Andrea Giani’s players weren’t able to score during the match ended 0-3 at PalaPanini; earlier they achieved six victories and only one defeat at the tie break in Piacenza. The great amounts of blocks, the best in its class with an average of 2.70 points per set, has been the very protagonist of the match counting on excellent interpreters as the middle-blocker Zingel (third league blocker) and Anzani, but also on two tall players as Ferreira and Djuric, who are particularly predisposed to this fundamental. The Portuguese and the Greek are inevitably the most anticipated players of the match; on Wednesday night they will play the first official match as a former Trentino Volley ex-players. With the yellow-blue kit, Alexandre played only one season (2013/14), characterized by an Italian SuperCup and 450 points in 44 appearances on the field; much more important is the yellow-blue past of Mitar, who won 7 titles in 133 matches (2 Club World Championships, 2 Italian Championships, a SuperCup and two Italian Cups) and realized 1401 points (7th overall bomber of history of the club). Together with Kovacevic (first league player for break-points, but with a sprained right ankle suffered in Modena), Ferreira and Djuric form a very competitive high-ball trio, that has already found a good attack phase with the setter Baranowicz.
THE PREVIOUS MATCHES. Will take place in Verona the twenty-eighth official match of the history between the two teams; the so-called Adige derby has almost always gone well for Diatec Trentino, with the yellow-blues able to win 20 on 28 matches, leaving only 7 wins to the opponents. In the last season history changed: Diatec Trentino won for 3-2 at PalaOlimpia and Calzedonia Verona won for 3-1 at PalaTrento. To find a win of Diatec Trentino at PalaOlimpia we just have to go back only up to the 1st of November 2014 (3-0 win in the fourth match of the season), before that result, PalaOlimpia had been consequently conquered six times: one for 3-2, two for 3-1 and three for 3-0.
REFEREES. The match will be directed by Rossella Piana (from Modena, in Serie A since 2005 and in the international field since 2001) and Daniele Zucca (from Triest, directing since 2001). The two referees are at their fourth direction in Unipolsai SuperLeague 2016/17, this is the first time together. For Piana the latest meeting with Trentino Volley is dated back to last March (3-0 versus Molfetta in game 1 of the play-off quarterfinals), while Zucca has already met Trentino Volley in this regular season (home win versus Vibo Valentia).
