Daniele Mazzone spikes at PalaTrento during an old match against Trentino Volley

Trentino Volley has completed the team of 2014/15 by hiring Daniele Mazzone. It will be the young middle-blocker from Piedmont, who just turned twenty-three years old less than a month ago, the alternative in place 3 to Sebastian Solé and Simon Van De Voorde. Mazzone has signed a two-year agreement with the Club Champion of Italy: the contract will expire on June 30th, 2017.
He is an athlete with excellent physical skills (207 cm high by 88 kilograms), and he is coming to Trento after playing as a regular his first two seasons in the top national championships, first in Molfetta and then in Citta’ di Castello - with which during the last regular season he scored 168 points (including 52 at the block and 17 serving) with 51% at the net in a total of twenty-four played matches. His excellent performances in the two forefront skills have shown interesting potential in a role that, at the level of the Italian players, is offering few new faces and that then have led Trentino Volley to choose him for the present but also for the future for the center network.
Growing up in the youth of Volleyball Turin, where Cuneo noticed him immediately and brought him in its team, Mazzone has soared in the important volleyball moving then to the Italian Club (three seasons between B2 and A1, together also with Lanza) and after gaining more experience in the second national championship thanks to a great year as a protagonist in Sora. In his curriculum there is also eight games with the National Major, with whom he won the Silver Medal at the European Championships in 2013 (he played as fourth middle-blocker behind Birarelli, Beretta and Piano) and the Gold Medal at the Mediterranean Games in 2013, in Turkey.
He will wear the T-shirt of Trentino Volley number 18, where it will be printed not only the name but also the first letter of the name, due to the presence of another Mazzone in the team: the spiker Tiziano, with whom there is no kind of relationship.
