The second round of matches of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League rounds are scheduled for today, Wednesday and Thursday; on December 20th, in Poland, Trentino Diatec will face Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle for the second match of the Pool E, after having defeated Maaseik. Live on Fox Sports tv, Radio Dolomiti and on streaming on www.laola1.tv., the match will begin at 8:30 pm.
HERE TRENTINO DIATEC Fresh from six consecutive wins that reboosted the ambitions in the national league, Yellow-blues are approaching the fourth successive away match of December with the goal of repeating the positive result obtained in Belgium two weeks ago and take the lead in the Pool E.
“It’s going to be a different match from the last we played
- highlights coach Angelo Lorenzetti -; in order to win we really must play our best volleyball, as our opponent is a top team with many individual qualities. Thanks to setter Toniutti, they play a very fast and various game, hard to read. Nevertheless, we are going to Poland with great confidence; a positive result would give us a good boost also for the championship”.
The team will arrive early this afternoon in Poland and tonight the players will train in Hala Azoty for a 90 minutes session and acquaintance with the arena; here coach Lorenzetti will decide the final starting six team, specifically the two spikers and the libero.
TENTH AWAY GAME IN POLAND FOR TRENTINO VOLLEY
The match against Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle will be the tenth away game in Poland in the history of Trentino Volley, the most visited country for the club, with twelve victories and only three defeats. The first match dates back to March 2009 (3-1 win on Czestochowa) and the last one to April 2016 (tie break defeat against Kazan in the 2016 Champions League). Overall, the club from via Trener competed in forty-three away matches in Champions League, with thirty-three wins.
THE OPPONENTS It will be a match characterize by revenge spirit the one between Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Trentino Diatec. During last week the champions of Poland participated to the Club World Cup 2017, ending with an elimination in the round phase after the defeats versus Civitanova (2-3) and Sada (0-3). Until the two defeats in the tournament, the season of the team coached by Andrea Gardini (who took the lead of the red-white-blue team of the former coach Ferdinando De Giorgi) has been almost perfect; so that Zaksa is the only one unbeaten team in PlusLiga after thirteen matches and which leads the ranking with four points of advantage on Belchatow.
In the Polish team there are many well-known players, like the French setter Toniutti, the Puerto Rican opposite Torres (both former players of Ravenna), the Belgian spiker Deroo (former player of Modena and Verona), but also the vice setter Falaschi, the Polish libero Zatorski, who has been World Champion in 2014 with his National Team and the German middle-blockers Wisnieski and Bienek.

POOL E SITUATION Trentino Diatec is in first position in Pool E with full score like Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, which won 3-0 at its debut versus Izmir, which has zero points like Maaseik. On Wednesday evening it will be played the other match that will complete the second turn of the round: in Maaseik Noliko and Arkas will play versus each other. In the next turn, scheduled for Wednesday January 17th and Thursday January 18th, Trento will play versus Izmir and Kedzierzyn-Kozle versus Maaseik.
THE BACKGROUND The one of Wednesday night will be the seventh overall match between the two Clubs; Zaksa is the Polish opponents which Trentino Diatec played more times against: six times, o an overall of sixteen matches versus Polish teams.
In addition to Kedzierzyn-Kozle, the Club of via Trener played also versus Belchatow (4), Cszestochowa (2), Rzeszow (2) and Jastrzebski (2). The balance sheet versus Polish teams is absolutely positive thanks to fourteen victories and only two defeats, one of them achieved versus Zaksa a little more than six years ago (December 14th 2011, Champions League rounds).
After that only victories came for Trentino Volley, which conquered Hala Azoty in three set on December 22nd 2011, 3-1 on November 21st 2012 and at the tie break on March 24th 2015, in this case in the semi-finals of CEV Cup. At PalaTrento, instead, the two other matches ended 3-0 (November 14th 2012) and 3-1 (March 28th 2015) in the last match between the two matches.
REFEREES
The match will be directed by the Russian Vladimir Oleynik, first referee from Moscow, and by the Romanian Lucian-Vasile Nastase (from Bucarest). For both the referees this will be the first meeting with Trentino Volley.

The match will be live broadcast by Fox Sports, it will be available on the satellite platform of Sky in the packet Sky Sport HD at the channel 204, live commentary by Stefano Locatelli and Andrea Zorzi. Live updates will be available on Radio Dolomiti, radio partner of Trentino Volley, starting from around 8.25 p.m. On the site www.radiolomiti.com it will be possible to listen to frequencies of the regional network and, at the same time, to listen to the live commentary of the match, by entering the “on air” section.
