Opening Sunday May 3rd, at PalaTrento the PlayOffs final in Super League for UnipolSai 2015. After eliminating Molfetta in two games for the quarterfinals and then in three in Perugia for the semifinals, the Diatec Trentino faces Parmareggio Modena in a challenge that will confronts the top two teams of the regular season and consists of five games. Kick-off of the first match starts at 6.15pm, with live broadcasting on RAI Sport 2 and on Radio Dolomiti.
After a two year anticipation, Trentino Volley is preparing to return to PalaTrento for the championship final, with the advantage of being able to play three of the potential five-game series in front of their home crowd and loyal fans. The event, which already has been experienced by the city on three occasions (2008, 2009 and 2013), this environment of the yellow-blues has already responded en masse to the appointment of this decisive semifinal with Perugia in which over 3,912 were present at PalaTrento. The Diatec Trentino comes through loud in their ‘home’ game in Super League (fifteen wins in as many home matches played between the regular season and playoffs) but the yellow-blues are also fatigued due to two hours and twenty-seven minutes of the game incurred just yesterday.
While taking this factor into account, Radostin Stoytchev not looking for excuses and thus presents the final against Modena. "We are pleased to have regained access to this type of games, but as always in these cases we must only win” - says the Trentino Volley coach, -.”Modena had definitely more time to prepare for the event, given the difficulties that we found in coping with a difficult opponent as Perugia, but we will try to make the most of the biggest challenges of the season. We have great respect for Parmareggio, but not fear."
Tonight Bulgarian the coach can count on all the actual players at his disposal; and has probably sent the report of the thirteen players to Perugia (runoff between Nellie and Mazzone for the last player to take on the bench).
The Two players who have lived on the field all previous six finals wearing the shirt of Trentino Volley: striker Matey Kaziyski (first goalscorer in Trentino history with 4,755 points in 320 games) and Captain Emanuele Birarelli, became yesterday's record-holder for the yellow-blues (341 today). For Zygadlo it will be his fifth final and for Colaci the fourth, the third to Djuric, Burgsthaler and Lanza, the second for Fedrizzi. The newcomers are Nelli, Nemec, Thei, Giannelli (on the bench though for Game 5 of 2013), Solé and Mazzone.
PREVIOUSLY Modena is the opponent that the Trentino Volley has faced as many times in official games in its history : in 607 games played so far, 50 have been staged against their canaries, challenged 30 times in the regular season, the third in the Italian Cup, as well as in 17 cases just in the playoffs. The stats are favorable for the yellow-blues for 30-20 thanks to two wins in three matches played season: 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 29-27) on Dec. 21st at PalaTrento last previous home game and 3-1 (24-26, 18 -25, 24-26, 25-17) on March 21st at PalaPanini in the latest one. The defeat by 1-3 (19-25, 19-25, 25-23, 12-25) in the Italian Cup final on 11th of January 2015 in Bologna which represents the only victory in this tournament of Emilia. The comparison between the two teams will be staged for the sixth time ever in the postseason, the second in a row after the one held last year in the quarter-final and won 2-0 by Emilia. The first back to back in the playoffs championship of Trentino Volley: 2002/03 with Modena who managed to penetrate only the fifth game 3-2 after being ahead for 2-0; later the two teams found themselves facing eachother in the quarterfinals in 2006 (closed series 2-1 to Trento which qualified for the first time in its history in the semi-finals), 2008 (victory of Trento in two matches) and then in the semi-finals in 2011 (closed series at 3-2 in favor of Trentino Volley).
SERIES The series finale is played to the best of five games; after Game 1, tonight's teams will be back on the field in Modena for Game 2 Wednesday, May 6th at 8.30pm; Game 3 will be played back at PalaTrento on Sunday, May 10th at 5:30pm. Game 4 will be played again in Emilia on Wednesday, May 13th at 8.30pm, while Game 5 will be played, if there was a need, in Trentino on Sunday, May 17th at 6.30pm. Who gets three successes became Champions of Italy for 2014/15.
REFEREES arbitrated by the tandem referees of the Palermo Matteo Cipolla (in the top flight since 1997) and by the Florentine Gianni Bartolini (referee role since 1992 and internationally since 2006) for directing game 1. The two referees are on their first joint leadership in Super League UnipolSai 2014/15, the fifteenth person to Cipolla, the sixteenth to Bartolini. Three each in total crossings season with the ENERGY TI Diatec Trentino: Cipolla refereed for Ravenna-Trent 0-3 on November 16th, Padova-Trento 0-3 on 3rd of January and Modena-Trent 1-3 of March 21st; Bartolini instead directed Latin-Trent 2-3 on November 23rd, Monza-Trent 0-3 on 26th December and 1st of March Treia-Trent 3-2.
