ph. Trabalza
Trento, October 20th 2017
The team qualified to its 9th Final Four in a row, after winning the match 3-0 on Wednesday night against Monza. Today the team has came back to PalaTrento in order to train for the next appointment. The SuperLega calendar shows an important appointment on October 22nd , that is to say the away game in Padua, the second match of the regular season. In the view of that, the team did two sessions of training (weights and individual technique in the morning and team work in the evening), to which all thirteen players of the shortlist took part. Diatec Trentino is leaving for Veneto on Saturday morning and they will train in Kione Arena during the afternoon. This appointment in Padua, on the Tonazzo field, is the first away match of this championship for the team, just like in the season 2011/2012. And that was a lucky occasion, Trentino Volley in fact defeated 3-0 the team that then was Fidia, on September 28th 2011. But this positive fact isn't the only reason why the match that the team will play in Veneto will be a special one for everyone that follows Trentino Volley since its origins. Sixteen years and nine months ago, in Padua, in the same arena where the team will play on Sunday (Kione Arena today but that was then called San Lazzaro), President Mosna's club won its first official away match of its history: it happen on January 5th 2001 and the yellow-blues won 3-1 on the second round, ending the sets 19-25, 31-29, 25-21, 26-24. The coach was Bruno Bagnoli and in the field the team was leaded by Goriouchev (most valuable player with 21 points) and Giombini (19).
That was the first of ten successes (out of thirteen matches) that Trentino Volley obtained in Padua, and Trentino Volley boasts a series of 16 won matches in a row against the Venetian club, a series that has been going on for almost thirteen years now. The last time that Padua won was in fact on February 13th 2005, when they obtained the victory after the tie break in Pala San Lazzaro. The match that will be played on Sunday will be broadcasted, starting from 6:00pm, on television, on RAI Sport+ HD and on Radio Dolomiti.
