The first interview as Trentino Volley’s new middle-blocker for Eder Carbonera.
Eder, in Trento you’ll have your first experience in a foreign club…
“Exactly, I’ve never played in a foreign Club until now. That’s why I’m very curious and excited about the occasion offered by Trentino Volley. Playing in the Italian SuperLega is for me a dream that comes true. It is the most difficult and exciting tournament all over the world and I’ll be given the occasion to experience it with one of the best Clubs. Besides, my grandparents are Italian: our family comes from Gaiarine, a village in the province of Treviso”.

What kind of player are you?

“I’m a rather complete middle-blocker; my best weapons are the service and the block phase I’ve a many years’ experience at high level and I’ll try try to make it available to the team, in order to help it to grow, given that all the players are very young. This role make me feel grateful and responsible”.

Have you already spoken with Angelo Lorenzetti?

“Yes, several times; he told me what kind of season we are going to have, what he expects from me and what kind of group the Club is setting up. The first impression has been very positive and has confirmed what Bruninho and Lucas Saatkamp had already told me in the National team. He is a very prepared trainer and a great person”.

During the last season you were in the same team as Raphael, who knows Trento well. Did you speak with him about Trentino Volley?
“Sure, he’s very happy I can have an experience like this. He and his family used only positive words to describe this environment; he told me that the Club, the staff, the town and the supporters are exceptional. His words gave me an extra boost to come to Trento”.

What kind of person are you, Eder Carbonera, outside the gym?

“I’m calm, sometimes silent. I love to spend my free time with my family or in the fresh air, and when I have the possibility, I like to meet my team-mates in order to build a group.”

What objectives do you have for next season?

“I want to help the team to win a trophy, better if it is the Italian championship. We’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Champions League, which is definitely the most difficult international tournament all over the world, with the best European clubs, including the Russian and the Polish ones. We will certainly be motivated. I want it to be an important season, also to grow personally; you never stop improving”.
