Renee Teppan spikes at Steengoed Arena Maaseik

ph. Noliko Maaseik

Trento, December 6th 2017

This afternoon Trentino Diatec has returned to Trento. After the brilliant success against Noliko Maaseik in the first match of 2018 CEV Champions League Pool E, a victory which confirmed the favourable tradition of the team against Belgian opponents, players and staff will stay in town for a few days before setting off once again. Lanza and his teammates, indeed, will not have time to rest; on Thursday morning a training session with weights is scheduled and the preparation will continue during the next days until Saturday morning, when the team will depart from Trento heading south, direction Vibo Valentia, Calabria. At PalaValentia (match starts 6pm on Sunday December 10) Yellow-blues will face Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia with the self-confidence given by a strike of four victories and by the freshly discovered qualities of the young opposite Renee Teppan. The Estonian player, who replaced Vettori during the match against Modena and was in the starting six against Noliko, has proved to be a solid alternative to the first-string opposite and delivered an excellent performance yesterday with 19 points (12 against Modena), best scorer of the match.
“I have enjoyed every moment of the last two games, I work hard every day in the gym so that, sooner or later, I can have my chance and be helpful to the team - said the 24yo opposite from Tallinn-. From this perspective here in Trento everything is perfect, because the players can focus on training and improving their skills, with a top class staff and Club supporting us. I am really happy to be here, I already knew the Italian SuperLega and I think the level now is even better. Last Sunday, against Modena, winning was crucial: we had to prove to the fans and to ourselves that we are doing and will do everything we can to come back after the bad start in the league. I also think that starting with a victory in Champions League is a remarkable demonstration of our worth, and the three points are never to be taken for granted. Champions League gives us visibility all over the world: in Estonia, for example, volleyball is very popular and since I joined this team the media are often talking about Trentino Volley”.
“Before Trento I played for Innsbruck, in the Austrian championship, and I have to say that the gap between here and there in terms of atmosphere and technical level is huge; from the trainings to the matches, everything is much more challenging here, and I couldn’t have found a better place to play, in Italy. I am satisfied with my performance in the last two games, I am also aware that in Vibo Valentia we are going to face another tough match; they’re a strong team and we have been travelling and playing a lot lately. It would be great to win and bring three points home, but we mustn’t lower our guard, we can’t afford to”.
