The experience in 2018 CEV Champions League starts with a very important away game for Diatec Trentino. The yellow-blues conquered Maaseik’s Steengoed Arena for 3-1 confirming its usual success in Belgium (where they have always won in eight matches) and in the debut matches of the tournament (eight successful debuts). This success permitted the team to immediately gain the first place in Pool E and to begin this cycle of four away games before Christmas in the best way. Despite the tiredness due to the 5 sets played only 48 hours before against Modena, Lorenzetti’s team proved its technical and physical superiority in comparison with the opponent team. Diatec Trentino got ahead for 2-0 at the end of two sets that had been very different: the first one was won easily, the second one was won fighting for every point.The opponents won the third set but the yellow-blues regained control in the fourth one and they managed to won thanks to Kovacevic (regular player during the whole match in place of Hoag and he scored 15 points with 50%, a block and an ace), to Teppan who was very effective in the net area(19 points with 57%, two aces and a block) after the remarkable achievement during the match of the derby in A22, and also thanks to Lanza (48% with two blocks and an ace), who was helped by the precision of the setter Giannelli and in second line by De Pandis who is constantly improving.
