Play Off, some notes and curiosities after match 2 of semifinal: record ace for Nimir

Here’s some notes and curiosities registered after 2nd match of semifinal of Play Off SuperLega Credem Banca 2021, won 3-0 by Cucine Lube Civitanova at BLM Group Arena.

NO MORE UNBEATABLE. Unfortunately, Thursday night Itas Trentino has been defeated for the first time during edition 2021 of Play Off Scudetto SuperLega Credem Banca; until Wednesday, this team was he only one that hadn't been defeat yet, on the contrary it had won 3 matches out of 3 played.

FIRST VICTORY FOR AWAY TEAM AT BLM GROUP ARENA, AFTER FOR MONTHS. The victory 0-3 at the BLM Arena has been the first for an away team after 4 months. It had been 4 months and 7 days since a team other than Itas won at BLM; last time was on 25th November 2020, as Vibo won 3-1 against Itas Trentino, during the match no one of the role setters were on field. After the defeat, Itas collected 14 consecutive victories on home field in 4 different competitions (Champions League, Regular Season, Coppa Italia and Play Off). During season 2020/21 Trentino Volley has only been defeats 4 times out of 22 matches played on its home field. 1-3 against Perugia and Vibo and 0-3 against Verona and against Civitanova.

NIMIR, WHAT A SERVE! Nimir shot 7 aces on thursday night, he achieved the best individual result  at serve in a match of the last 11 editions of  Play Off Scudetto. Only Matey Kaziyski during match 1 of the quarter finals of season 2008/09 against Vibo Valentia (won 3-2 by Itas on 26th March 2009) managed to realize 9 poinst at serve, but he played two more sets in comparison to the Ducth hitter spiker.

888. The match on Thursday night at BLM Group Arena was the 888th official match of the story of Trentino Volley, number 46 of the season; in general, gialloblù achieved 622 victories and was defeated 266 times (85 times on its home field). Cucine Lube Civitanova is the most frequent opponent: almost 9% in total, 79 matches (35 victories and 44 defeats).

FIRST DEFEAT 0-3 ON HOME FIELD DURING PLAY OFF IN 7 YEARS Despite the defeat, Itas confirms its ability on field. Indeed, this defeat is only the 4th in the whole story of Itas’ participations to the Play Off Scudetto; last time it happened was 7 years ago (match 1 of quarter finals against Modena).

LISINAC OVERCAME NASCIMENTO ON "ALL TIME"BOMBERS’ RANKING  Thanks to the 7 points he scored durig match 2 of the semifinal, Srecko Lisinac managed to improve his position on the “all time” bombers’ ranking. Right Thursday night, Liske got to 1.068 points, overcoming the Brazilian Andrè Nascimento (1.062) and getting closer to 16th position, at the moment occupied by Simone Giannelli (1.078).

MATCH 3 ON EASTER DAY. This afternoon, Itas has got back at work at BLM Group Arena for a 2-hour-long session of weight training and individual technique. On Sunday morning last trianing before leaving for Civitanova, where on Sunday 4th April the team will play (at 5 pm) match 3 of semifinal. For Trentino Volley, it will be the 3rd match ever played on Easter day; it won both the previous two. On 31th March 2013 (3-0 on home field against Vibo) and on 1st April (3-2 against Perugia).
