Champions League, Trentino Itas fights on difficulties but cannot do anything vs Perugia

The path of Trentino Itas in 2022 CEV Champions League must face the first home setback. This evening the yellow-blue formation interrupted its quick march in Pool E of the maximal continental trophy, leaving the path to Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia with a score of 0-3. The result closes the issue related to the assignment of the first place of the round (now in the hands of the Umbrian team with the support of maths), nevertheless this leaves open yellow-blue hopes for the qualification to the quarter final of the competition, where not only the first classified of the five groups can access but also the best three seconds classified. To get such place, the Club of Trener street must win in Cannes next Wednesday and wait for good news from the results on the other matches.
This evening’s match, played without being able to count on the support of Kaziyski (a precautionary break), Podrascanin (minimal injury at the abs) and Lisinac (injury at the back that must me examined in the next hours), has seen Trentino Itas playing the match with generosity. Despite the absences of two regular middle-blockers (D'Heer and Cavuto played in their place reinventing a place 3) and the captain, the yellow-blue team fought tooth and nail during the second and third sets, after taking measurement to the new scheme (which expected Pinali as opposite hitter) during the first set. Lavia (best scorer in his team with 17 points, 5 of which were blocks) and Michieletto (16, with 60% at net) allowed the host team to be in the match for a long time, until Leon (mvp and best defensive marker of the match with 21 points, 3 aces and 2 blocks) scored the minimal difference between the two teams in the break-point phase.
Following the score board of the fifth match of Pool E of the Main Phase of 2022 CEV Champions League played this evening at BLM Group Arena in Trento.
