Valsa Group Modena-Itas Trentino 1-3, the match report

Here is the match report. Angelo Lorenzetti confirmed the starting six that he almost always chose in the first round of this season: Sbertoli as setter, Kaziyski as opposite spiker, Lavia and Michieletto as hitter spikers, Lisinac and Podrascanin as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero. As regards Modena’s starting six there is Bruno as setter, Lagumdzija as opposite soiker, Ngapeth and Rinaldi in position 4, Sanguinetti and Stankovic as middle blockers and Rossini as libero. From the beginning the competition is vibrant; the hosts start better and goes ahead with the score (2-4, 4-6 and 6-10): Ngapeth and Lagumdzija stands out immediately. Lorenzetti calls a time out, but it did not help the way he hoped; indeed, it is Modena who keeps on scoring with the serve and the block (10-16 and 11-19), securing the first set. Trento’s coach replaces Laurenzano and Lavia with Pace and Džavoronok, but without any positive response; the only hope is given by Podrascanin at the end of the set (17-25).
Itas Trentino tried to shake things up after the change of court, thanks to Lavia well supported by Kaziyski (5-2), but Valsa Group took little time to put things back on track (7-7), hoisted up by Ngapeth. In the middle of the half, the guests offered a new breakthrough with Michieletto serving (ace) and Matey at the block (point on Rinaldi) to make it 13-10; the Emilians again regained points 19-18 thanks to a good moment at the net (attack and block) by Rinaldi. In the final period Kaziyski and Michieletto produced a new lead (23-19), but it was not the decisive one, as the yellow-pink then cancelled three set points, took a chance to close out the match, but did not take advantage of it (extraordinary attack by Alessandro) and finally lost the match on Kaziyski's counter-attack, which made it 28-26 and signed the 1-1. Itas Trentino begins in the best possible way also the third period, which the yellow-blue began to take steadily in hand after 6-6. Kaziyski's serve and counterattack made it 9-6, then Michieletto defended the gap (14-10). Modena reacts and with Rinaldi recovers to 14-13, before Lisinac kills Stankovic signing the new +3 (16-13). Lorenzetti's line-up was good at defending the margin (20-17) and closing on 25-22 despite the hosts putting some apprehension on them at the end by cancelling four set points. The point-to-point battle began again in the fourth set; Itas Trentino with Kaziyski tried to run away (7-5) but the hosts with Ngapeth and a few yellow-blue errors took it back to 10-10, before letting the guests run away again (14-12), but they continued to be too foul in reception and attack, giving the new tie at 17. Podrascanin with a long series of serves redirected the set definitively in the direction of Trentino (22-18); the Valsa Group became nervous, made a lot of mistakes and finally gave up on Lisinac's first time serve (25-20).
