Trentino Itas-Berlin Recycling Volleys 3-0, the match report
Chronicle of the match. Trentino Itas confirms all players who had already made up the starting six last Wednesday in Berlin: Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as spikers, Podrascanin and Kozamernik in the middle, Laurenzano as libero. The guests respond with Tille as setter, Sotola as opposite, Taht and Schott in area 4, Krick and Tammemaa as middle blockers, Tsuiki as libero. Trento’s start is scorching: Michieletto (attack and block) and Rychlicki (spike and ace) immediately offer the first consistent cue, but Tammemaa equals the score with his serve. Sbertoli with a block on Schott creates a new opening (8-6), imitated a few exchanges later by Michieletto (break point for 11-8). This time the hosts held onto the lead for a long time (15-12), before increasing it in the final (18-14 and 21-15) thanks to the incisiveness of block and serve (Kozamernik's ace). The 1-0 home lead then came quickly, as early as 25-19, but in the closing exchanges Sbertoli had to leave the court in place of Acquarone due to a left-hand problem.
The Ligurian setter remains on the court in the second set as well, but Trentino Itas does not seem to feel the changeover, quite the contrary: with Michieletto and Rychlicki unleashed it immediately gets to 5-2, 8-3 and then 10-4, when Acquarone himself also makes a winning block. The yellow-blue team is a runaway train, picking up more and more speed (14-7 and 17-10) thanks to a consistent effort between defense and counterattack. At the most difficult moment of its match, however, Berlin does not give up and gets back up thanks to its block and Kessel's good entry (18-15). Soli called a time out and brightened the ideas of his players, who restarted with Rychlicki (20-15) and then closed the qualification talk a few minutes later, on 25-20 (Tammemaa's error in the middle).
In the third set both coaches give space to all the other players on their roster. In the Trentino half-court, it was Cavuto, with his serves, who dug the difference after the initial tie (12-9). Berlin climbed back up to 15-15, then another push came from Nelli (19-16), which Magalini protected (23-20), all the way (25-21).
