Play Off, a new away match in Lazio on Wednesday for game 4 of the quarter-finals

Game 4 of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2025 Playoff Quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday, March 26th, at the sports arena in Cisterna di Latina. For the third time this season, Itas Trentino will travel to Lazio, aiming for a victory that will secure their spot in the Semifinals, as they lead the series 2-1, played in a best-of-five games. The match will start at 8:30 pm, live on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT paid platforms VBTV and DAZN.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The 3-1 victory in Game 3 has put the Gialloblù back in the lead in the series, offering two chances to get it over with. The first one on Wednesday is undoubtedly the most appealing, because it would then offer a rather long break (eleven days) to train for the next match (possibly not scheduled until 6 April) and to recover energy after a truly remarkable tour de force, between close games and long journeys.
Fabio Soli, the coach,  presents the upcoming match as follows: “We are facing an undoubtedly tricky away game, as it is well known that Cisterna is a team with excellent qualities, and they always play their best volleyball in their own arena, often finding great service rotations and even more competitiveness. We will need a careful approach to the match, but above all it will be necessary to be able to systematically accept the point-to-point fight, as happened in the previous match in Lazio”.
The Itas Trentino team will return to Cisterna di Latina by train this afternoon, with only Bristot missing (the young outside hitter player from the Gialloblù youth team, Boschini born in 2007,  will be on the roster), and will hold the pre-match training directly at the sports arena in Cisterna di Latina. Game 4 of the quarterfinals will be the 158th match in the Men's Playoff Scudetto for Trentino Volley: the record stands at 93 wins and 64 losses. In the quarterfinals alone, the club from Trentino has already played 67 matches, with 46 wins and 21 losses.
TWO WINS AND THREE LOSSES IN THE PREVIOUS "GAME 4" OF THE QUARTERFINALS In the past, Trentino Volley has already played a Game 4 in the Quarterfinals of the Playoff Scudetto five times (out of a total of twenty-one previous participations), achieving two wins and three losses. The victories are related to the 3-2 win in Trento against Modena  during the 2003 series (their debut in this phase) and the 3-0 victory in Monza in 2023. The losses are related to the 0-3 defeat against Perugia in the 2004 series, the 2-3 home loss against Piacenza in 2005, and the 1-3 defeat in Molfetta during the 2016 series.
THE OPPONENTS Wednesday evening's home game will be Cisterna Volley's first-ever "Game 4" in the Playoffs. In fact, this season the team is participating for the first time in the board that awards the men's Scudetto with the name of the club that took over the rights from the historic Top Volley Latina in the summer of 2023. In front of their home crowd, Falasca's team will try to confirm the result achieved ten days earlier in Game 2, in an attempt to have the opportunity to return for the fifth time in the last three months to the ilT Quotidiano Arena in Trento, where they could potentially play the deciding match for a spot in the Semifinals. To achieve this, they will likely rely once again on the high-ball trio of Faure (49 points in the first eleven sets of this series), Bayram, and Ramon, with Ramon having finished Sunday’s match on the bench to make way for a strong performance from Tarumi. Experience in matches such as these will be provided by setter Baranowicz, in the ninth Play Off of his career with six different teams, including Lube with whom he won the scudetto in 2014. Another player with a championship title in his career is libero Domenico Pace, already named MVP of Game 2 and an Italian team former player, alongside Daniele Mazzone.
HEAD-TO-HEAD Wednesday will see the seventh match-up of the season between the two teams, with Itas Trentino currently leading the series 5-1, thanks to four home wins (December 29, February 19, March 8 and 23) and one away victory (September 29). Of the 53 total matches played between the clubs, Trentino Volley leads with 42 wins to 11. However, the Lazio side has won three of the last six encounters played on their home court: in addition to Game 2 on March 16, they also claimed a 3-0 win on March 20, 2022 (the final match of the 2021/22 regular season), and a 3-2 win on January 15, 2023. Despite this, the historical record at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Cisterna di Latina still heavily favors Trentino, with five wins in eight matches played there.
THE SERIES Itas Trentino currently leads the best-of-five quarterfinal series 2-1, having won Game 1 on March 8 at the ilT Quotidiano Arena with a 3-0 scoreline (25-23, 25-19, 25-14), lost Game 2 on March 16 in Cisterna di Latina 1-3 (21-25, 25-27, 25-19, 24-26), and won Game 3 in Trento on March 23 by 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21). Game 4 will be played on Wednesday in Lazio and could be the decisive match if the yellow-blue come out on top. If Cisterna Volley manages to win, a decisive Game 5 will be needed—scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at the ilT Quotidiano Arena (8:30 p.m.). The winner of the series will face Piacenza in the semifinals (also a best-of-five series starting Sunday, April 6), after Piacenza defeated Verona 3-0 in their quarterfinal match-up. Also on the same day, Game 4 between Milano and Civitanova will be played, with Civitanova leading 2-1. Perugia has already qualified for the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Modena.
THE REFEREES Game 4 will be officiated by Umberto Zanussi (from Treviso, a Serie A referee since 2006) and Stefano Caretti (from Guidonia – Rome, in Serie A since 2016). This will be the fourth time they referee a SuperLega match together, and their second joint appearance this season. Zanussi is officiating his 14th match of the 2024/25 season, and his fourth involving Trentino Volley—all previous matches resulted in wins for the yellow-blue  (3-1 at Piacenza on November 17, 3-0 against Milano on December 26, and 3-0 in Verona on February 2). He has previously refereed Cisterna vs. Trento twice, both ending in Trentino home wins. Caretti is officiating his ninth SuperLega match of the season and returns to Trentino after the 3-2 home win over Grottazzolina on January 19 and, notably, the 3-1 win in Cisterna di Latina on September 29.
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be broadcast live with full commentary on Radio Dolomiti, official media partner of Trentino Volley. Frequencies are available at www.radiodolomiti.com, where the live broadcast can also be streamed online.
Live video streaming is also confirmed on two OTT platforms: VBTV and DAZN. Both services require a subscription.
On television, a match summary will be broadcast on Friday, March 28 at 4:45 p.m. on RTTR, Trentino Volley's media partner.
Point-by-point live updates will be available on the official websites of the Serie A Volleyball League (www.legavolley.it) and Trentino Volley (www.trentinovolley.it), as well as on Trentino Volley’s social media platforms (www.trentinovolley.it/facebook, www.trentinovolley.it/instagram, and www.trentinovolley.it/twitter).
