SuperLega UnipolSai, top national male championship of volleyball, confirms its worldwide TV appeal for 2016/17 season that has just ended. 2016/17 tournament (regular season and play-offs) has developed over seven months and 66 countries had the opportunity to watch its matches on TV. The number of potential viewers is almost 180 million: 10 million of them are Americans (thanks to some important television stations like Eleven Sports Network in Usa Sky Messico and Band Sport in Brazil) and 15 million Europeans.
These figures, that confirms a steady international TV interest for Italian volleyball, have been published in the past few days by MP&Silva, world leading agency for the distribution of TV rights (those of SuperLega UnipolSai too); as compared with the previous championship there are eleven countries more (from 55 to 66), with a consequent increase of 60 million potential viewers. The so-called Global Matches – games of regular season that are broadcasted worldwide during each turn of Lega Pallavolo Serie A – enjoy great success. In 2015/16 season eighteen matches (out of a total of thirty-nine games played in SuperLega and Coppa Italia) of Trentino Volley have been broadcasted live worldwide, with a total of 31 hours and 50’ live (this figure doesn’t include the numerous reruns of the channels).
