Christmas at the BLM Group Arena for the first match of the second half of SuperLega
The second half of regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2019/20 starts on Christmas day at the BLM Group Arena in Trento. Itas Trentino will be the protagonist of the only match played on 25 December, against Consar Ravenna (the other matches of the fourteenth day are programmed for Boxing Day). The starting whistle is planned for 18:00: live streaming on RAI Sport + and Radio Dolomiti.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The team is back to work after finishing the first half of the season ranking in the fifth place; Itas wants to try and perform a comeback after the setback against Cucine Lube and start the next phase of regular season with a smile.
“We want to forget the disappointment given by the latest loss – confirmed the coach Angelo Lorenzetti, presenting the match – and in order to do that we will have to bring on the field all our will to win and redeem ourselves. We have a difficult task ahead of us: we will face a team, Ravenna, with important numbers in both service reception phase and break point phase, who has been playing in a more and more convincing and aggressive way, especially in the second half of the first round, carried by great enthusiasm. We will have to be able to respond to each hit in order to obtain a positive result”.
The full team of Itas Trentino will be present at the match and will finish its preparation for the ninth home appointment of the season with a training session early in the afternoon on Christmas Eve and another one on 25th December in the morning. This will be the 831st official match for the Club, the 382nd home match and, in case of positive result, the 580th victory, the 304th at home.
THE OPPONENTS The sixth place gained after the first round determined a good start of the season for Consar Ravenna. The team, after having surprisingly gained access to the Final Eight of Coppa Italia 2020 (it will play in the quarterfinals on 22 January at PalaPanini in Modena) comes to Trento after a bye week intending to keep surprising. Among the protagonists who obtained the sixteen points (one of which was obtained against the top of the list, Lube) with three away victories (in Veroli, in Cisterna di Latina and in Reggio Calabria), there are the Canadian opposite Vernon-Evans (twelfth top scorer of the competition and fifth ace man), the expert Dutch spiker Ter Horst (very productive in attack) and also two young men like the position 4 Lavia (fifth striker of the competition) and the middle blocker of Trentino Volley Cortesia (fifth in defence with 26 successful blocks in 12 matches). On the other hand, the other player of Trentino Volley, Oreste Cavuto, got less space, being limited by a shoulder injury.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS At Christmas Trentino Volley and Porto Robur Costa Ravenna will face each other for the eighteenth time in their history; the competition started during the 2011/12 season. The reports are in favour of Itas Trentino for 15-2, but Ravenna obtained one of the two victories in Trento, on 3 February 2016 at the tie break. Itas Trentino won three times 3-1 and twelve times 3-0 (including the latest home match, on 10 March 2019). Also the match played at Pala De André of Ravenna on 20th October was won in three sets: 28-26, 25-15, 25-21 (Lisinac mvp, 12 points with 82% efficiency). It is not in the public domain that Trentino Volley has some origins in Ravenna: in May 2000, the President Diego Mosna has bought the rights of the A Series of Valleverde Porto, that had already won one championship and three World Cups in the nineties.
REFEREES The match will be directed by Giuseppe Curto (from Gorizia, in A Series since 2013) and Dominga Lot (from Santa Lucia di Piave - Treviso, in A Series since 2010 and international one since 2017). The last match with Trentino Volley for Curto has been on 13th November (home win 3-1 against Piacenza), whereas for Lot it has been the defeat against Modena in four sets on 24th November.
TV, RADIO AND INTERNET The match is going to be a worldwide media event, live broadcasted on tv, radio and internet. It will be broadcasted by RAI Sport +, a channel available on the digital terrestrial platform (channel 57 in HD, 58 in sd) and satellite one of Sky on the channel 227; the images will be published on the internet in a streaming video-audio format with RaiPlay app and are going to be available in 12 different countries thanks to the live broadcast of Sportklub (Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia, Montenegro), of Match TV (Russia), of Polsat (Poland), of BTV Bulgaria and of DSmart (Turkey), apart from the principal global betting websites of SportRadar agency.
The match will be live broadcasted by Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volley, starting from 18.00. All frequencies to listen to the local radio are available at the link www.radiodolomiti.com, where it is also possible to listen to the commentary on streaming, in the “On Air” section.
The deferred match can be seen on tv on Monday, 30th December at 22.00 in RTTR channel, Trentino Volley’s official partner.

TICKETS AND MERCHANDISING The presale of the tickets for the match against Ravenna will be available in all Trentino Volley’s offices and the ones of Promoevent until Tuesday, 24th December at 18.00 and anytime on the internet at the link www.vivaticket.it/ita/event/itas-trentino-ravenna/144895. Some tickets will also be available at the BLM Group Arena, starting from 17.00, time in which also the doors of the Arena will be opened.
