Amarcord, 7 years ago the victory of the third Scudetto: the beautiful story of Sintini

May 12th 2013 - May 12th 2020: the yellow-blue agenda today brings up one of the most exciting moments of the first twenty years of Trentino Volley activity. Only seven years ago at PalaTrento the yellow-blue Club celebrated the victory of the third championship in its history, the second in front of its audience.
The victory was obtained at the end of a very long game against Piacenza. As happened in 2008 and 2009, the Scudetto Finals against the Emilian players was played in the last game (in this case game 5) at the BLM Group Arena. After more than two hours and twenty of battle Itas Diatec Trentino got the better on Piacenza for 3-2, with sets of 23-23, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12.
During the 2012/13 season, the team coached by Stoytchev had already won the Club World Cup in Doha, the Coppa Italia in Milan. That day was unquestionably the most awaited for Jack Sintini. In that year the setter returned to play after defeating cancer; Trentino Volley bet on him for the role of deputy setter. Sintini worked hard throughout the but until May 12th in fact he never had great opportunities to prove his worth. A serious hand injury accused by the Brazilian setter Raphael at the PalaBanca in Piacenza during game 4, offered him the opportunity to play as regular player in a Scudetto Final after many years (the last time was against Macerata in 2006). Despite a long and exhausting game (140 minutes played), he arrived lucid at the fifth set. The mistake in attack by Samuele Papi made all Italy move, who connected on RAI Sport, inevitably dreamed of a happy ending to the story of Jack Sintini, who at the end of the game also received the prize by mvp. His post-match words, collected in a interview with the commentator Alessandro Antinelli, went around the world and gave further hope to all the sick.
An exceptional championship, a beautiful story, impossible to forget that all volleyball still carries in the heart. From that evening a book was born, published by Mondadori, written by Sintini himself and entitled “Forza e coraggio” ("Strength and courage"); the same motto that still support Jack in promoting his non-profit organization, with which he raises funds to finance research and oncology departments throughout Italy.
