SuperLega, Wednesday at the BLM Group Arena the recovery of the fifth round

Itas Trentino returns to the field on Wednesday 9 December at the BLM Group Arena to play the recovery of the fifth day of SuperLega Credem Banca 2020/21, originally scheduled for 14 October. Leo Shoes Modena is the opponent in the traditional A22 derby. Kick-off scheduled for 7.30 pm, with live coverage on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on Lega Volley Channel at www.elevensports.it
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The first days of December saw the giallo-blù team repeatedly take the field and in all four matches played in the last seven days has always been able to gain the victory. In particular, the one won in Verona on Sunday evening allowed Giannelli and his teammates to return to moving the rankings after more than a month stop in the championship; a goal that the team wants to pursue also in the appointment on Wednesday evening, which they will face without being able to count once again on Dick Kooy but with a Giannelli who is certainly more ready from a physical point of view after the five sets played in Verona.
"The Champions League and SuperLega matches last week allowed us to regain some of that pace that we had inevitably lost in November and further demonstrated how cohesive this group is - said coach Angelo Lorenzetti, presenting the appointment - . Wednesday night against Modena we will have an important opportunity to confront a valuable opponent and to continue our growth path which in this period obviously passes more from matches than from training. We want the victory to give continuity to what we have been doing in the last period and to unlock ourselves also in the championship, reducing the distance from those ahead of us "
The match against Modena will open a new mini-cycle of close engagements for Itas Trentino, which in the following eleven days will take the field three more times within the friendly walls of the BLM Group Arena: Monday 14 with Lube, Thursday 17 with Milan and Sunday 20 with Piacenza.
Wednesday will be the nineteenth official match of the Trentino Volley season (twelve wins and six defeats), the 864th ever and will see the Gialloblù go hunting for the first home success of the regular season 2020/21; up to now at the BLM Group Arena, the six victories obtained out of nine matches played have in fact all come for Champions League (5) or Super Cup (1) matches.
THE OPPONENTS The team which will show up on Wednesday evening in Trento will be a Leo Shoes Modena determined to turn the page and make a change in her second round. The Emilians have in fact started the downward phase of their regular season journey with a double defeat (1-3 in Monza and 0-3 on Sunday at home with Vibo). The internal knockout against the Calabrians, which followed the midweek one in Perugia in the recovery of the ninth round, forced Giani's team to slide to seventh place in the standings (with two games to be recovered), overtaken by Monza itself. Until the match in Brianza eight days ago, the team had recorded a clear away path, collecting the entire stakes in all three away games (won in three sets in Vibo, in four in Ravenna and Padua) ; the home journey is more problematic, also characterized by defeats with the same Vero Volley, Civitanova and Milan. The first part of the season, however, showed the great condition of the spiker Petric, who returned to Emilia after four years away and was immediately able to build a great understanding with the setter Christenson. Three former giallo-blù players that coach Andrea Giani received from the summer market immediately moved well: the German spiker Karlitzek (fourth aceman of the tournament), the expert middle-blocker Stankovic and the libero Grebennikov, currently fourth best receiver of the SuperLega. On this occasion the Frenchman will play his first match as a former player in Trento together with Vettori; both will receive a celebratory plaque from the club in the pre-match, with thanks for what they did in their seasons with Trentino Volley.
BACKGROUND Modena is the second opponent that Trentino Volley has faced the most in its twenty years of activity (the first is Lube); Wednesday the 75th official match will be played and the total balance is favorable for the club in via Trener for 42-32. The most recent match was played in Trento, a few days before the lockdown: 15 February, success for Modena 1-3 (20-25, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25) with Christenson MVP.
