In Montichiari Itas Trentino beats Monza 3-0

The “Trofeo Ferramenta Astori” quadrangular tournament in Montichiari opened with a decisive victory for Itas Trentino's men's team. In the first of the last two preseason tests scheduled for the weekend at PalaGeorge, the Italian champions defeated Monza in the semifinals, securing the second match of the day with a 3-0 victory tonight.
Other than the result, which has generated even more enthusiasm at this early stage of the season and confirmed the positive trend of the first part of September (three wins in just as many official friendly matches), the most encouraging signs came from the team's performance. The yellow-blues showed moments of excellent volleyball skill, seasoned with a determination that, especially in the decisive moments of the first two sets, made the difference in tipping the balance in favor of the Italian champions.
Alessandro Michieletto's “World-class” form (17 points with 50% in attack, two aces, and one block in his first yellow-blue game of the season) and the ever-improving form of Ramon (16 points with 55%, two blocks, and two service points) and Faure (who immediately showed excellent teamwork with Sbertoli: 14 points with 81%!) allowed Mendez's team to close out the match with the maximum margin, in which even the serve (seven points scored by four different players) set the pace at every important moment, even when there was no direct ace.
“It's definitely a great victory, in just three sets, which saw us play well at the crucial moments of the match” - explained Itas Trentino coach Marcelo Mendez after the game - . "We still have a lot of work to do in all areas, but this team is showing determination, which is an important quality. Our serving has progressively improved, giving us a good contribution that helped us achieve this result. Now we have another match ahead of us, which will provide us with further useful insights."
On Sunday afternoon, still in the area of Brescia, Itas Trentino will play its last official match of the preseason: at around 6 p.m., it will face Valsa Group Modena (winner of the first semifinal of the quadrangular tournament against Padua with a 3-2) for first place in the tournament.
